Deaths Mrs. Adelaide B»we WlnMemu Mrs. Adelaide Rowe Winkleman, widow of Louis Winkleman, died suddenly at .the borne of her sister, Mrs. F. William Obenderfer, East Patrick street, this morning at 6:30 o'clock. She was aged M years and was a daughter of the late Augustus and Barbara Schrodel Rowe and was a member of St. John's Catholic church and the Blessed Virgin Sodality. Surviving her are one brother James C. Rowe, and her sister, Mrs. Obenderfer. The body rests at the funeral home, 106 East Church s t r e e t , where the funeral will take place with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 Thursday, thence to St. John's church where the mass will be intoned at ten o'clock. John Raymond Carpenter, a lifelong resident of near Pearl, died at his home Monday evening at 5:30 o'clock after an illness of complications. He was aged 80 years. He was a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Mary Catherine Dun- awin Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter engaged in farming for many years and later, with his son, did house- painting. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nettie Amelia Ray Carpenter and two children, R. Eldred Carpenter, Route 6 and Mrs. Mary J^Jar- garet Pyles, Hyattsville. Three of the deceased's eleven grandchildren are in the armed services. They are, Gerald Carpenter, Omaha, Air Force; David Eugene Carpenter, Savannah, Air Force and . Wayne A. Pyles, Camp LeJeune, Marine Corps. Four great grandchildren also survive, Mr. Carpenter was a member of Grace Trinity Reformed church, near Pearl. The body rests at the funeral home, 8 East Patrick street, where friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be iield there Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Successlul candidates for commissioners were Hubert Gordon, Arthur Hier and Paul Zecher. Incumbents Victor Kifer and John Wetnight declined to run. The other incumbent, Mr. Ahalt, was defeated for-Burgess. The vote for commissioners was: Gordon, 35; Hier, 24: Zecher, 21; Donald Moss, 20, and Mrs. Louise Butts, 11. Elected for three year terms, the officials will organize at a meeting next Monday night. FINAL P-TA MEETING The children of the New Midway School entertained their parents and friends by doing their folk dances at the final meeting for the current school year of the New Midway P-TA. Raymond Anders, president, presided. Election of officers for the 1956-57 school year was held, with the following results: President, Mrs. Charles Dougherty; vice president, Mrs. Leonard Fink; secretary, Mrs. Lawrence Hevner; assistant secretary, Mrs. Sylvester Bostian; and treasurer, Lee Hummer. ' The following committee was appointed to make plans for the annual supper: Mrs. Pauline Whitmore, chairman; Mrs. Ruth Hines, and Mrs. Lillian Hummer. Miss Mildred Pittinger's room received the attendance award. Refreshments were served by parents of the children in Miss Mildred Pittinger's room.
