LIBRARY HOSTS LEGAL PLANNING PROGRAM OAKLAND CITY The Oakland City Columbia Township Public Library lunch and learn series for seniors continues at noon June 9 with Planning for What Princeton attorney Pamela Partenheimer will lead an informational session highlighting the different and wide variety of legal forms you may need should you face a life changing event. This is an informational session only. No contact information will be collected by the presenter.

Seating is very limited and requires registration. Interested parties should call 812- 749-3559 in order to save a space. PATOKA UMC HOSTS COMMUNITY PICNIC JULY 2 PATOKA Patoka United Methodist church hosts an Independence Day picnic from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 2 at 104 Northeast Mill Street in Patoka, featuring free hot dogs and drinks, a bake sale, ice cream contest (bring your homemade ice bounce house, water slide inflatable, dunk tank and other features.

The congregation hopes to make it an annual event. The public is invited. BLUEBIRD PROGRAM JUNE 4 AT PATOKA RIVER NWR OAKLAND CITY Friends of Patoka River National Wildlife Refuge sponsor a program about bluebirds on at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4. In case of inclement weather, the program will take place on June 11.

Besides the life history of the bluebird, retired school teacher Jerry Hunefeld will include information he has learned through 45 years of maintaining a bluebird trail in southwestern Dubois County. The hour-long program will take place on the Refuge at the Boyds Trail parking lot, just east of Snakey Point marsh. At the conclusion of the presentation, there will be a drawing for some bluebird boxes which were constructed and donated to this event by the Friends of the Patoka River NWR. The Boyds Trail parking lot is east of Oakland City and north of Ind 64 (watch for the brown Refuge signs on Ind. 64 directing you to Snake Point Approximately one-quarter mile east of Oakland City, turn north on CR 1275E.

In mile, bear left on CR 1300E which becomes gravel. Continue one mile to the parking area located on both sides of the road. MOTE, GLOVER IN CONCERT JUNE 10 OWENSVILLE Christian recording artists Gordon Mote and Austin Glover are featured in concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 10 at the Owensville Carnegie Library park. Admission is a free will offering.

In the event of rain, the concert moves to Owensville Methodist Church. MOUNT OLYMPUS ALUMNI BANQUET JUNE 18 MOUNT OLYMPUS The 91st Mt. Olympus Alumni Banquet is June 18 at the Mt. Olympus Gym, beginning with a social hour at 4 p.m. followed by dinner at 5 p.m.

BY THE PRINCETON CLARION EVANSVILLE The Evansville P-47 Founda- tion is has acquired a 1943 Chrysler M4A4 Sherman Tank which will be deliv- ered to the Evansville War- time Museum for public viewing in the summer. The tank has been restored and is fully operational. It was built by Detroit Tank Arsenal between July, 1942 and November 1943.

The tank served in the British Army and was in the Normandy Tank Museum in Catz, France until 2016, when it was imported back to the Unit- ed States and donated to the American G.I. Muse- um in College Station, Texas. contribu- tions to the WWII ef fort included the conversion of the Chr ysler Motors plant to the Evansville Ordinance Plant, where 5,662 Sherman tanks and military trucks were refur- bished and tested. Over 250 businesses in Evans- ville produced more than 300 war time products, including the Republic Aviation P-47 Thunderbolt fighter planes for which the foundation is named. The Sherman Tank will be on display alongside the Hoosier Spirit II P-47 Thunderbolt, a 1940 Boe- ing Stearman, and many other war era artifacts at the Evansville War time Museum at 7503 Peters- burg Road in Evansville from noon to 4 p.m.
