Three El Paso pastors were ordered by Pope Paul VI to be formally elevated to the rank of Monsignor in ceremonies conducted by Bishop Sidney Metzger of the El Paso Catholic Diocese Msgr William Ryan pastor of St Church was elevated in his church yesterday He served as pastor of three Las Cruces NM parishes and was moderator of the New Mexico State University Newman Club before his present assignment MSGR ROLAND VON-DERHAAR was 'to be elevated toaay at 5:30 pm in Blessed Sacrament Church where he is pastor He served parishes in Silver City NM and Alpine Texas and was rector of St Charles Borromeo Seminary High School before Dean Goodlett will portray Luke in a pulpit musical drama of the life and ministry of the apostle Paul The title role is played by Howard Spurill in the presentation to be given tomorrow at 6 pm at Ysleta Baptist Church 8601 Alameda avenue The drama is presented by 50 members of the Youth Chorale of Calvary Baptist Church Garland Texas in El Paso for a series of services concerts and Bible Schools in the El Paso Juarez Area THE CHORALE is accompanied by Miss Sheila Hill pianist and Mrs Mary Ker-shner on the electric bass Soloists are Scott Collier Linda Williams Melanie Hopper Laura Carr Patti Hibbs Teresa Havens Cindy Gordon Terry Samples and Spruill The revival services are led by youth but are for people of all ages They will be presented Monday through Wednesday at 7:30 pm at Ysleta Baptist Church A concert will be given Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Baptist Mission Center 706 South Ochoa street The public is invited to all services and tomorrow at 11 am services Sunday School is at 10 am and the evening service is at 7:30 pm The public is invited to attend THE UNITED Pentecostal Church began in the early and was based on Pentecostal precepts taken from the Book of Acts The church has remained evangelistic and has not involved itself in social or political concerns The church relies on evangelism on college campuses convention halls or in tne streets to get the message to the people a spokesman said Missionaries and national workrs in more than 60 countries report continuing revival and conversions Charismatic Congregations Set Union Meet Rev David Geraets Abbott of Our Lady of Guadalupe Benedictine Abbey Pecos NM will be guest speaker at a union meeting of the El Paso Charismatic congregations and people celebrating- Pentecost Sunday The meeting is tomorrow at 7 pm at Liberty Hall The public is invited The New Mexico Abbey hosts some 10000 persons each year who attend retreats which emphasize Charismatic Renewal and teaching The retreats are booked as far in advance as one year A FEW YEARS AGO the Abbey faced financial disaster Few people were interested in attending retreats The change began when the Abbey became Pentecostal in 1969 Pentecostal community is the Father Geraets said are a general witness to how God is renewing the Church He added that while many Abbeys have one or two monks who are Pentecostal the Pecos Abbey is the first and only Pentecostal Abbey in the world Coronado Assumes School Clinic Responsibility The board of Coronado Christian Church has voted to take over responsibility for the project in Colonia Guzman which it has been helping under New Life Inc The project includes a day school for 96 children with a hot lunch program a health clinic and dispensary and a store for the sale of donated used clothing and household goods The program be ad- ministered by the people of the Colonia with the aid of two volunteer nurses from the church and under the general FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH missionary for the Augustinian order prior to joining the El Paso diocese in 1955 New Testament To Show Film Of Meeting A film showing the history and recent sessions of the North American Christian Convention will be shown tomorrow at 6 pm at New Testament Christian Church 5529 Threadgill road The annual teaching and preaching convention has grown to be the largest church convention in the United States and is sponsored by the free Christian Churches SOME 15000 persons are expected to attend the sessions July 23 through 26 in Anaheim Calif This is a family convention and there are Teen and sessions and a nursery The convention began in 1927 when these conservative churches split with the liberal Christian churches Churches in El Paso supporting the convention are Eastside Christian Westside Christian and New Testament Christian Churches The public is invited to attend There is no admission charge worship service is at 10:50 am Robert Blazek evangelist speaks on Testament Track and Basketball teams 1 and was named to the second All State team for 1973-74 He plans to attend the University of Texas at El Paso and major in electronics DEAN GOODLETT sixth since 1969 Eddie Alley minister to youth directs assisted by Allen Collier minister of music with nine' other adult sponsors Guitarist Concert CAROLYN BOYD scholarship concert for the are by Vicente Uvalle Castillo of Mexico City El Paso Choir of the Southwest will tour Europe from July 19 through Aug 11 They will sing at St Methodist Las Cruces July 12 at the Plaza Theater July 13
