THE PITTSTON GAZETTE- November 14, 1960 Mrs. Edith Moran, Hughestown, Dies After An Illness Mrs. Edith Moran of 132 Center street, Hughestown died last evening alt home after short illness. She was the widow of George Moran, who passed away in 1949. The former Edith Meytrott, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Hotfman Meytrott.

She was a member of a St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hughestown. and its United Lutheran Women's Society. Surviving are the following children: five daughters, Isabella, and Mrs. William Kirk, at home; Mrs.

Esther Langan, San Francisco, Mrs. Frank Zelinski, Wilkes Barre; Mrs. Joseph Schwab, Levittown, sons, Francis, Hughestown and, Edgar, New Milford, N.J.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Esther Helriegel, Mrs. Cornelia Lucas, Hughestown; Mrs.

Ray Miller, West Pittston; brother, George F. Meytrott, Pittston. The funeral will be held from the family home at a time to be announced. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Harding. Friends may call this evening after 7.

George Fritch, district dean, of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Scranton, was in charge of the dedication and unveiling of the cornerstone of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hughestown, yesterday afternoon. Ten new Sunday School rooms and one choir room were dedicated. The order of the laying of the cornerstone was in charge of the host pastor, Rev.

Robert F. Sauers. Rev. Luther Schlenker, assistant to the president of the Ministerium of Pennsylvania, preached 'the sermon, Special music was presented by the choir under the direction of Mrs. Lee Murray.

Assisting in the anthem, "Praise of the Lord," was Carul Schmaltz, flute, and Carl Klaproth, trumpet. The following gifts were announced: Cross on steeple, 1 Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stahl, in memory of their son Kenneth, and cornerstone, William Dendie. Special thanks was given to the following building chairmen, Walter Schmaltz, Roy Stauffer, Ernest Pliscott and all men and women of the church.

Lawrence Toole Is Death Victim Funeral Tuesday Lawrence Toole, 55 Church street, died Saturday morning in Pittston Hospital following a short illness. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the Charles F. Burns and Son Funeral Home, 4 Kennedy street, with a solemn high mass of requiem at 10 in St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment, parish cemetery.

Friends may call 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. A native of Mr. Toole was a son of the late Thomas and Catherine Whalen Toole. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as salesman for Kelly and Mullen Furniture Store in Pittston. He was a member of St.

John the Evangelist Church and its Holy Name Society. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Martin Tracy, with whom he resided; also the following nieces and nephews, Attorney Mantin G. Tracy, Washington, D.C.; Rev. Thomas Tracy, of St.

Vincent's Church, Scranton; Mrs. Joseph Devlin, Washington, D.C.; I Rosemary Tracy, teacher in Moorestown, N.J.; one uncle, Frank Toole, Philadelphia. Dispensary Cases Pittston Hospital dispensary reported the following dispensary cases over the weekend: Michael Viola, 15, of 222 South Main street, was treated for abrasions of the face Saturday night at Pittston Hospital. The boy was hurt when he tripped over wire and fell. Stanley Dziedzic, 42, of 1104 Main street, Port Griffith, was using a table saw at his home when his right hand slipped into the blade.

He was treated at 7:30 on Friday night for a laceration of his right thumb. Four sutures were required. Toole replaces Francis "Red" McNulty AS head cage coach. Vice President, Stanley Palum presided over the session in the absence of James Ruane, President. The board approved final payment on repairs to city school buildings.

The repairs were ordered by the state so city school buildings would comply with fire-prooting requirements. Ordered paid were: Architoot Ettore Lippi, Gagliardi Contractors 242.06; Keystone Roofing $1,207. A third firm, Joseph Murtha Contracting, was previously paid in full. The board also voted to pay the summer playground instructors in full. Cost of the summer program was announced as $6,100 by Secretary Thomas J.

Hennigan. Tax Collector James Cosgrove reported net October collections of $132,695.17, broken down as follows: Property taxes, per capita, discounts of $6,696.93. Other receipts included state appropriation of Luzerne County Tax Claims Bureau, delinquent taxes, 990.66; Don Wilkinson Agency, delinquent taxes, $195.45. The board agreed to pay $30,421, the amount due for 1959-00 as the school district's share of the teachers' retirement fund. Also approved for payment was $560.50 to Underwood Corporation for five new topewriters recently purchased for typing classes; and $88.19 to Francis Cosgrove for labor and material used in installing an exhaust fan in the manual arts classroom.

The board approved action of Secretary Hennigan in having installed a power unit for the bell system in the high school after the old unit developed trouble. Payment of $99.50 was approved for the unit. Mrs. Edward Fallon, 23 De Witt street, was added to the substitute list. A contract to furnish industrial arts supplies was awarded to Brodhead Garrett Company, Cleveland.
