Corbin of Sikeston and a student at State College, Cape Girardeau, underwent an appendectomy at Southeast Missouri Hospital this morning. Miss Daisy Garden, former resident of Sikeston and for the past several years a resident of Memphis, came yesterday for a visit with Mrs. Margaret Harper and Miss Florence Baker and other Sikeston friends. Mr. and Mrs.

J. R. Harwell and children, Robert and Lila Regina, and Mrs. Nellie Bugg, mother of Mrs. Harwell, will be dinner guests on Christmas Day of the former's parents, Mr.

and Mrs. J. H. Harwell, in Poplar Bluff. Mr.

and Mrs. C. E. Golladay and son, Bill, and D. B.

and Mrs. J. E. Childress and son, John Ross, will spend the Christmas in Cairo with Mrs. Childress' parents, Mr.

and Mrs. J. W. Stokeley. Mrs.

Pauline Zaricor of St. Louis, who is visiting her son, H. M. Zaricor, and wife, at their home near Sikeston, will extend her visit through the holidays. Mr.

and Mrs. R. T. Couey left Sunday for San Diego, where they will visit their son, R. T.

Couey and family. Mr. and Mrs. Couey expect to be in California for several months in the interest of their health. Mrs.

A. G. Gatewood returned home Sunday night from Christopher, 111., where she had been called Friday by the illness of her father, W. T. Haley.

Mr. Gatewood went to Christopher and accompanied her home. Mr. and Mrs. Wm.

A. Hutchason and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wm. A. Hutchason and Mr.

and Mrs. E. P. Aldrich and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jack Shelby, visited their sons and husbands in Little Rock, Sunday.

Mrs. Charles Pinnell received a radiogram Sunday from her husband, who is in Honolulu, stating that he was safe an4 working hard. Mr. Pinnell. a Naval Reserve, is overseeing the installation of a light plant for a Navy hospital in Honolulu.

Miss Mary Hinchey, who holds a responsible position in the office of the registrar at Northwestern University, Evanston, 111., will be here the first of the week to spend the holidays with her mother. Mrs. Sue Hinchey, and grandfather, J. W. Baker and other relatives and friends.

Edward Matthews, Dick Tongate, James Martin and Harry Gross, students at Westminster College, and Misses Rose Mary Putnam and Mary Em Donnell, students at William Woods College, Fulton, will be home tonight to spend the holidays here with their respective parents. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morris, whose marriage occurred on the night of December 10, at the Baptist church at Morley, left Wednesday for Pittsburgh, where the former has employment. Mrs.

Morris is the former Miss Ruby Healy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Healy of near Sikeston. C. D.

Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Butler-of Sikeston and a member of the freshman class at Central College, Fayette, is a member of the senior men's debate team of the college, which took part in the Midwest Debate Tournament held at Kirksville last Friday and Saturday.

C. D. and his colleague won three out of four to tie for second place. During his high school days, C. D.

was an outstanding member of the Sikeston high school debate team. His twin brother. J. E. Butler, is also an active student at Central James L.

Murphy and son Ralph, of Bernie were business visitors here Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. S. F.

Duckworth spent the week-end in St. Louis with relatives and friends. Harry Young and son, Dick, were business visitors in Memphis Saturday night and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs.

M. T. Tinder were guests last week-end of their son, Mac Tinder, and family, in Collinsville, 111. Mr. and Mrs.

Howard Christian will spend Christmas Day with the former's relatives in Paragould, Ark. Mrs. Evelyn Caudle of Kimmswick, is the guest this week of Mrs. Nellie Estes and daughter, Mrs. C.

M. Taylor, and family. Mr. and Mrs. L.

F. Hatfield and daughter, Miss Margaret Ann, spent the week-end with the former's brother, Jim Hatfield, and family, in St. Louis. Mr. and Mrs.

M. M. Beck and daughter, Mrs. Robert Mow visited, their' son and brother Corporal Merritt Beck, at Little Rock, on Monday. Mrs.

John Stokes and children, Anne and John of Mayfield, were guests Saturday of the former's mother. Mrs. Anna Winchester, and other relatives here. Miss Adilda McCord will leave Monday for Danville, to spend the holidays with her sisters, Mrs. A.

J. Stevenson and Mrs. Ray Steele, and their families. Mrs. Ray Marsh has been confined to her home the past ten days because of illness.

Her mother, Mrs. Addie Abell, of Bertrand has been with her the past week. Jack Layton was complimented on Thursday night of last week when a dinner party was given for him at the home of Marshall McGill by members of the Thursday Night Club. Mr. and Mrs.

T. Fletcher Ellis of Evansville, are expected here next week for a holiday visit with the latter's mother, Mrs. Lacy E. Allard, and brother, L. E.

Allard and family. Miss Lois Edwards, who has been employed in Washington. for the past several months arrived Sunday night for a week's visit with relatives in Sikeston and at Gray Ridge. Miss Betty Jane Taylor, who has been attending' Central College in Fayette. will be home this week-end to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. C. M. Taylor. Mr.

and Mrs. John Wilson and daugher, Penny, visited relatives in Carlinsville, 111., Saturday and Sunday. They returned by way of St. Louis, where they visited relatives Monday and Tuesday. Mrs.

J. M. Sitzes had as her guest Saturday night and Sunday her sister, Mrs. J. A.

Robinson, of Portageville. Her daughter, Marie, was the week-end guest of Miss Shirley Dillon at Morehouse. Mr. and Mrs. C.

H. Butler will go to Columbia tomorrow night to bring their twin sons, C. D. and J. home for the Christmas holidays.

Jimmy Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Turner, will accompany them here.

Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Keith and daughter, Miss Helen Virginia, left Tuesday for Los Angeles, where they will spend the holidays with their daughter and sister, Mrs.

Norman Gocke. and family. They will also visit Mrs. Keith's niece, Mrs. Eddie Pancoast, and family, before returning home.

H. Yount. Mrs. Lizzie Ferrell expects to spend the Christmas holidays in St. Louis with her son-in-law and daughter.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson. The condition of Mrs. R.

K. Bone, who has been confined to her home the past two weeks because of illness, is reported improved. Mrs. Charles Steams and sons. Bill and Bob.

Mrs. C. C. Pinnell and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles Pinnell, visited relatives in Illinois Sunday.

Mrs. Tanner C. Dye and sons, Joe and Bob, and Mrs. John Russell spent Sunday and Monday in Little Rock, with the former's husband. Major Dye.

Miss Maxine Crader, an employee of the Southeast Missouri Telephone Company, will go to Jackson today for a visit until the first of next week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Crader.

Mr. and Mrs. L. U. Fourmy and son, Carroll, and Mr.

and Mrs. Wayne 'S. Reed and daughter. Ann. of Monroe, are expected here for a holiday visit with their parents and grandparents, Mr.

and Mrs. S. E. Reed. Mr.

and Mrs. L. M. Hollenbeck and children, Anne and John, expect to spend a part of the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Hoilen- beck's parents, Mr.

and Mrs. V. B. Simpson, at Eldon. Mo.

They will leave the latter part of next week. Mrs. E. G. Tipp is making satisfactory recovery from a five weeks' illness of pneumonia and complications.

Her mother. Airs. Olto Bloom, who has been with her during that time, left Wednesday for her home in Portland, Oregon. Miss Esther Mill, home economics instructor in the public schools in Carbondale, 111., and her sister, Miss Margaret, who is a student at the State College in Cape Girar.deau, were guests of their parents, Dr. and Mrs.

M. C. Mill, last week-end. Mr. and Mrs.

Floyd Ingram of Wolf Lake, came last Friday for a brief visit with the former's mother, Mrs. Emma Watts, and brother, John Watts, and family, in Sikston and with his sister, Mrs. Ben O. Matthews, and family at Miner. T.

M. Solomon, a surgical patient at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, for the past several weeks, will be brought to his home here the latter part of the week. Mrs. Solomon and daughter, Mrs.

Ruby Newsom, will go to the city to accompany him home. Ensign and Mrs. Claude Henley of Ithica, N. will be here next week to spend the Christmas holidays with the latter's mother, Mrs. Georgie Donnell, and her sisters, Miss Peggy Donnell, a student at the University of Missouri, and Miss Mary Em Donnell, a student at William Woods College, Fulton, Mo.

Mrs. Margaret Harper and Miss Florence Baker returned home Sunday from St. Louis after a visit since last Thursday with their daughter and sister, Mrs. T. B.

Dudley. Mrs. Georgie Donnell returned home from Mount Ayr, Sunday, where for two weeks she had been the guest of her brother, Phil Renner, and family. Another brother, Don Renner, met her in Columbia and accompanied her to Sikeston. Mr.

and Mrs. W. W. Ensor and children, John and Joan, will go to Old Hickory, next week to spend the Christmas holidays with the former's parents. Rev.

Ralph Anderson returned home Sunday from Chicago, where she underwent an operation on her left arm, which was injured in an automobile accident three months ago. Doctors removed foreign particles from the in- juried member, which had caused infection. Two operations were necessary to insure complete recovery. Mrs. Anderson reported that her brother-in-law.

Col. Arthur Ewert, is now stationed at Fort Sheridan, north of Chicago, and is engaged in training chaplains for the Army. For Sikeston Kiddies At Malone Theatre All children of the public and the Negro school in Sunset Addition may attend. Price of admission a can of vegetables or fruit or bulk vegetables or fruit. T. Old was called to Troy, Sunday because of the critical illness of her sister. Shad Old, who is a student at the University of Ohio, will be home Saturday to spend the holi- days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.

T. Old. Guest for the Christmas holidays of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lambert will be the former's mother, Mrs.

C. F. Lambert of Omaha, who will arrive Saturday. Her son and daughter-in-law will meet her in St. Louis.

Rev. and Mrs. E. D. Owen will have as guests during the holidays their daughter, Mrs.

H. W. Dahlor. and children, Owen Clark and Jo Ellen, of Jefferson City and their son, Frank Owen, and wife of Louisville, Ky. Miss Almaretta Sidwell, commercial teacher in the public schools in Jefferson City, will be here Saturday to spend the holidays with her parents, Dr.

and Mrs. I. W. Sidwell. Mrs.

Sidwell and her daughter will go to Alton, 111., on December 23, to accompany home another daughter, Miss Mary Sidwell, an instructor the public schools there, who will also spend the holidays with her parents. Mrs. Thos. Holderby returned home Sunday from Camp Polk, near Leesville, where she had spent several days. She was accompanied by Mrs.
