All members of the reception and entertainment committee and all subcommittees are requested and urged to meet at the Board of Trade room this evening at 8 o'clock, to make final arrangements for entertaining the visiting newspaper men Saturday and Sunday.

The following marriage licenses have been issue-i during the past week: Valentin Tijerina and hi-rara Lopez; Ricardo Garcia and Estrella Buitureira; Pedro Garza and Refugio Sanchez; Manuel de la Rosa and Rosa Cadriel; Manuel Villareal and Elisa Chamberlain; Rafael Garcia and Rosa Rodriguez. This city needs a dog catcher worse than any place of its size in the state. Dogs without tags roam the streets at will, and no effort seems to be made to enforce the ordinance requiring taxes on dogs to be paid and the dogs provided with tags. A dog catcher would have his hands full if he did his duty. How long will people be disturbed by the nightly howling of a lot of worthless, mangy curs', whose only excuse for living is to make night hideous with their howling.

Gus Ryburg, superintendent of Sam Robertson's canal building outfit at Lonsboro, was an arrival on today's noon train. He reports work moving along very nicely, the large earthen reservoir being almost completed. This reservoir is over four miles in circumference, and will have eight feet average depth. The canal work is also in progress and progressing satisfactorily. About 180 teems are at work, and the dirt lies lively.

Mrs. Lt. Parker went to Point Isabel on yesterday's train. W. P.

Stafford came down from Lonsboro on the noon train today. W. E. Harwood, of Austin, was among yesterday's arrivals in Brownsville. R.

B. Creager and family were among the passengers for Point Isabel yesterday. Geo. A. Westbrook, of Kings-ville, spent last night in the city and was an outgoing passenger this morning.

G. W. Rendall returned last Rockport," where he has been the past two months setting up the machinery of the old Frontier Ice works, which was moved from here by J. W. Davis.

Mack Compton, a capitalist of Chicago, who has been prospecting in the Brownsville section the past few days, left for home this morning. He will probably return shortly and invest in this section. J. E. Crew, of Houston, assistant superintentdent of the Wells Fargo Express company, was an arrival in the city yesterday afternoon on the lookout for business for his company.

He left again this morning. E. B. Downing, the well known photographer, who has spent the past eight months in Mexico taking views, returned to the city last night. He secured a large number of splendid views in that interesting republic.

Mrs. Jno. D. Hill left this morning for Houston, where she goes to attend the marriage of her son Frank, which takes place next week. After a few days visit to Houston Mrs.

Hill will go to her old home in Kentucky to spend the summer. The many friends of Frank Hill congratulate him upon his approaching marriage, and in advance wish for himself and wife all that is best in life. The Program. So far the program mapped out for the entertainment of the visiting editors wjll be as follows: On arrival the entire party will be met and rooms assigned for the night. After supper there will be a reception and luncheon at 8:30, at the Riverside rink.

From presents prospects there will be about 200 editors in the party. As they will have to be at Sinton Sunday evening about 6:30, to make connection with the Sap night train, it will be necessary for the crowd to leave here Sunday morning not later than 11:30, to make the connection, so there will not be much opportunity for sight seeing.
