Jamal Levy made sure Wake Forest didn't let up against Yale.

Levy led four Wake Forest players in double figures with 19 points as the No. 18 Demon Deacons rolled to a 86-61 victory over Yale on Saturday before 4,031 at the Arena at Harbbr Yard. Levy also had a game-high seven rebounds for Wake Forest, which had 11 team steals and forced 20 turnovers. Justin Gray added 15 points, Eric Williams 12 and Vytas Danelius 10 for the Demon Deacons, who shot 33-for-66 from the field. "I thought we played very hard today," Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser said.

"We were fighting for every rebound and every loose ball. We paid great attention to the basketball today." Wake Forest, off to a 3-0 start for the fifth straight year, hosts Indiana on Tuesday in the ACCBig Ten challenge. The Demon Deacons have been ranked in the Top 25 for 15 consecutive weeks under Prosser. Yale (3-2) gave No. 1 Connecticut a scare in its season opener 12 days earlier before succumbing 70-60.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs couldn't solve Wake Forest's suffocating defense. "We know Yale is an NCAA-caliber team and we expected an NCAA tournament caliber school in Cleveland, drilled his 3 from the right wing as the Tar Heels (3-0) overcame a four-point deficit by scoring the game's final 10 points. Omari Westley scored 20 points and Percell Coles had 15 all on 3-pointers for the Vikings (2-1), who won just eight games last season but more then held their own against one of the nation's elite programs. Williams scored 24 points, Sean May 19 points and Rashad McCants 18 for North Carolina, which trailed 76-72 when Coles buried his fourth 3-pointer of the second half with three minutes left. The basket sent the crowd of 11,534, the second largest in Convocation Center, into a frenzy and had CSU fans dreaming of an upset on the scale of the Vikings' win over Indiana in the 1986 NCAA tournament.

But Williams muscled inside for a basket and after McCants made the first of two free throw, Williams tipped out the miss to keep possession for Carolina. The 6-foot-9 junior then hit his 3-pointer, only the Tar Heels' second in 1 1 tries to put UNC up 78-76. Coles misfired for Cleveland State with 1:12 left and Raymond Felton made two free throws to give Carolina its biggest lead since the first half. Coles missed another 3 with 23 seconds to go and Melvin Scott put it away for the Tar Heels by making two free throws with 8.5 seconds to play. game," said Gray, a 6-foot-2 sophomore guard.

"We knew they would give us their best shot. "They gave UConn their best shot and we knew they'd give us a good fight. "But we were up for the fight and gave them1 a knockout blow early before making the first run of the second half." No. 9 North Carolina 82 Cleveland St. 76 CLEVELAND Jawad Williams made a critical 3-pointer with 1 :27 left and No.

9 North Carolina survived a scare with a victory over gutsy Cleveland State. Williams, who went to high Yale's Edwin Draughan goes Forest's Eric William, during Deacons won the game, 86-61..
