Rep. Younger, 74, Dies Of Leukemia WASHINGTON Rep. J. Arthur Younger. R-llth District.

who represented San Mateo County in Congress for 15 died of leukemia last night at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He was 74 Younger's illness was diagnosed after he entered the hospital last April 18. He as able to leave the hospital and appeared briefly in the House last month. He announced June 1 that he would not seek re-election in 1968 but hoped to serve out his eighth term in the House. Two Republicans have publicly announced they would seek election to Younger's seat.

They are Sheriff Earl Whitmore and Paul N. McCloskey. a Palo Alto lawyer Gov. Ronald Reagan has authority to call a special election to fill the vacancy. In Congress.

Younger, of San Mateo. was4he second-ranking Republican on the Interstate and Foreign Commerce Committee. Younger first was elected in 1952 after he had served 15 years as executive vice president of a San Francisco savings and loan firm. Younger is survived by his widow. Norma.

Marin County hopefully billed the State of California yesterday for $2,700 in overtime paid officers to patrol the giant music festival atop Mount Tamalpais June 9-10 County Administrator Alan Bruee said yesterday the claim for overtime amassed by a 25- man force was sought in a letter to Frank Nichols, director of the Department of State Beaches and Parks, which issued the permit for the festival in the state park. If the claim is rejected.
