10SVHOAY, AWL 19W YMCACIases In Life Saving Are Completed Eleven candidates completed latest Bed Cross and Young Men's Christian Association life saving coarse, Ease completing the course are C. L. Shaddock, John Bleu, James McGee, Thomas Johnson, Ernie Parker, Tommy Frey, John Singleton, Nyles Spurtock, Leo Hantz, Michael Baumann, and Terry McFfllen. The course requires ability to swim 440 yards and knowledge of personal and public water safety, boating safety, and rescue techniques used in life saving. Persons completing the course are eligible to participate in the instructor's course which will be offered the week of May 25 during the evenings and during the wfcek of July 13.

Location of the instructor's course will be announced later. Candidates for water safety instructor must be at least 18 years old. Knife Fight Leaves One Man Injured A 22-year-old Lake Charles Negro is in the hospital and an 18-year-old is in Calcasieu Parish jail, following a knife fight hi an out-of-the city night spot, Sheriff Henry A. Reid said Saturday. In jail, where charges of aggravated battery will be filed against him Monday morning with Dist Atty.

Frank Salter, is Edison Garrick, 18, 1301 North Adams St in connection with the cutting of Nelson Broussard, 22, of 822 North Jake St The sheriff said the two became involved in an argument at Antoine's club, on Goodman road. Witnesses stated that a short tussel ensued with Broussard being stabbed in the left side and left leg at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Broussard is in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital where his condition is reportedly not serious. The victim was brought to the hospital and hospital attendants informed the sheriffs office of the cutting.

Teachers In Vernon Hold Spring Meet LEESVILLE (SpL)-Dr. Howard M. Kinlaw, chairman of the Louisiana College education department, spoke on the qualities of a good teacher Thursday afternoon at the spring meeting of the Vernon Parish Teachers Association in the Leesville High School auditorium.
