Whatever the reason the beloved as a curtain raiser seemed a rather forlorn old friends The Cantata No 148 was performed next with the opening movement of the Minor Concerto used as an introductory Sinfonia and the second movement serving as accompaniment for the opening chorus This procedure was followed In Bach's time but the third movement of the concerto which Bach did not use in the Cantata was to be played in fids performance before the closing Chorale but was omitted It sounds complicated and it was What with Leo Smit the piano soloist hopping off to the harpsichord after the second movement piano lids being raised and lowered singers popping up and down for their solos everything seemed to be in motion but the music which especially the first movement was as soggy as the weather
