A. Arnold, of El Reno, was yesterday appointed by Governor Renfrew to llie olllcc of superintendent of the territorial bor.rd of health. There were quite a imtnbt of prominent applicants for the position. Dr. Arnold is a good man and a sterling Democrat.

He eamo to Olda-lioma when the country was thrown open to settlement, and Ik one of the prominent citizens of Kl Reno and the nestftide. He has been a practitioner since the year 18 0, aniWn a graduate of the medical university nt Louisville, Kentucky. The oflice of superintendent of the board of health pays a Balary of J500 a year nnd some fets, and taken altogether, is very good oflice. The appointment of Dr. Arnold will meet with universal intisfaction.

The dancing party and supper given at the opera house last night by the guilds of the Episcopul'ehurch was one of the most enjoyable events of the season. A large crowd was present and the floor was tilled with fair ludies and chlvulriu men, who danced the light fan us tic to sweet strains furnished by Professor Young and wife.
