His Indendlary utterances were punctuated by applause from the negroes, who composed one-third of the audience. AN AMUSING LETTER. A correspondent, writing from derson says: Quite an amusing letter was received by a gentleman here a few days ngo from a former negro em? ploye, who resides now in Franklin, Pa. According to his statement, we infer that town is the "Niggers' Para? dise," as it meets all the requirements to which Sambo aspires and longs for while In Dixie. He says the colored people are kindly treated. Men and women of his race receive good w'ages.

No discrimination Is made on account of color; no Jim Crow cars; all go to the same churches, sehend, board at. the sann? hotels and eat at the same tables. There is no reason why Franklin does not double her negro population yearly. CHARGED WITH BIGAMY. The Wilmington Star says: James F.

Wooden matches are still made in llmiticd quantities and arc preferred by sonic, but this prefer? ence is confined to the hot country and may be due. In part, to traditional pre? judice. It is said that wooden matches are better for the hot country, as the wax Is liable to melt and become sticky. The wax taper is less bulky, generally has two striking ends, emits no disagreeable odor, and Is made waterproof. It is doubtful if a wooden match could bo made to supplant the wax, unless a manifestly superior ar? ticle wore produced at a lower price.

There are no matches Imported. White-pine wood comes from the tin? ned States, and paraffin wax is fur? nished by nn oil company. Boxes with rubber Rtrings are now Imported from Italy. The consumption of matches put up in Ulis form is I'll) gross a year for the Vera Cruz factory. The number of people who purchase matches Is relatively large.

A very heavy percentage of the men smoke, the consumption of cigarettes being enormous. Cost of efficient labor in manufactor? ies is: Men, cents to day; women, to fifty cents, in match'fac? tories, practically all the labor is task work. Women are employed outside of the factory to give shape to the boxes. The usual workday Is: In the higher altitudes, n. 111.

Lewis Carpenter of Heartly, Kansas, formerly of Parsons, the following statementx "My daughter, Carrie, now fifteen years of age, had her first menstrual period over two and one-half years ago. We used all the family remedies we could get hold of, but with the assist? ance of doctors did not succeed in establishing or ever bringing about another menstrual Last January I procured a bottle of Wine of Cardui of Quarles and after taking less than one-third of a bottle she is set right has regular This testimony is gladly given without solicitation. It is a plain statement of a really marvelous cure. QUARLES Druggists. Few parents give sufficient attention to their daughters when they approach the age of puberty.

Just emerging from girlhood into womanhood the changes which take place are important. If passed successfully a healthy and happy life will almost certainly follow. Wine of Cardui used just before puberty helps the girl through the trying ordeal and smooths the entire path of womanhood. In many women delayed or disordered menstruation at puberty is the primary cause of life-long illness. Wine of Cardui is the best aid to establish the natural flow.

It is also an emmenagogue of great value, that is used with benefit by women of any age. It regulates menstruation perfectly, it makes childbirth easy, it relieves-ifailing of the womb, and is the surest safe guard at the coming of change of life. With proper care and instruction at puberty and the tlie use of Wine of Cardui when needed all chronic diseases may be avoided. A $1.00 bottle of Wine of Cardui often saves hundreds of dollars in doctors' bills.
