Leak and Mr. J. C. Marshall, of Wadesboro. 1 Upon our return, we noticed that a storm, accompanied severe lightning, had passed over the country near, the river, doing some damage to the crops, blowing down a considerable amount of corn and other vegeta-tion.

The Depot at; Pee Dee Station was struck by lightning, but little damage was done, however, beyond knocking a few of the occupants of the house "spacheless." I On Wednesday vening last, a countryman, who was driving a "gay old steed" hitched to a one-horse wagon, down the hill, had the misfortune to have some part of his harness break, and the wagon, running upon the ed at full speed down the hill, throwing the driver flat upon his back, and just as they got opposite our office, we saw something drop from the wagon, and on going! out to the fence we discovered a pair of old shoes with a pair of feet in themi protruding from a mud hole in the middle of the road, and directly we saw the owner of those feet crawl out of the mud Jiole, who was none other than ourj distinguish ed friend, "Dutch Charlie, who had perched himself upon thi hind part of the wagon to "take a ride." See advertisement in another col umn, of Hon. Alfred Dockery. He has on hand at his mills! from sixty to seventy-five thousand feet of plumber. which he offers at fair prices. Persons contemplating building would do -well to send him their orders.
