Henderson, will deliver he commencement address to the graduating classes of the Loulie Compton Seminary and the Margaret Allen School at the Jefferson Theater Wednesday night when diplomas will be presented to 83 members of the two classes. secretary of the International Steel and Motors Compony Corporation, with capitalization of 320,000, which Henry Leon. Brittain and associates are said to be considering locating at Rome, asked concerning the plans, said that he knew nothing to be given out, that he understood that Mr. Brittain had been to Rome and looked over the situation but he was not in possession of any of the plans of the proposed steel and motors parts plans. Mr. Craig is connected with the Birmingham Stjel Corporation at East Birmingham, one of the projects of Mr.

Brittain. The plant at East Birmingham is doing as nicety as could be expected on commercial work, but little steel is being fabricated now for the Mobile Shipbuilding Company, another enterprise and parent of the corporation here organised by Mr. Brittain. Information from Rome is to the effect that several persons have consented to Join Mr. Brittain in his plans of development, that ore lands will be taken over and other arrangements made for a blast furnace, steel plant and automobile parts factory and that before lon the project will be on its feet.

Industrial Notes. The annual meeting of the stockholders of the Shelby Iron Company, of which Morris W. Bush is president, will bo held in Jersey City, N. June 9. Mr.

Bush will be re-elected president and all the other directors will be reelected. The company is making charcoal iron and enjoying a strong market, the product selling at 355 per ton. The Gulf States Steel Company reported net income for April, after deductions for taxes, depreciation, at 3106,700. The Republic Iron and Steel Companx has declared the regular quarterly dividend of IX per cent bn the preferred stock, payable July 1, to stockholders of record June 15. A dividend of 1 Vi per cent has been declared by the same company on the common stock, payable August 2, to stockholders of record July 15.

The Southern Railway Company has declared a dividend of 24 per cent on preferred Btock, payable June SO, to stockholders of record on June 4. Birmingham interests are said to have leased the blast furnace at Rome, and made arrangements for ore at Ce-dartown, coke from this state and other material and soon will begin operation again of the plant. The furnace does not need a very great amount of work done to place it in full commission. Birmingham furnace companies are being askd to offer a considerable tonnage of pig iron for export. Not less than 2.500 tons of pig iron will leave this district in the next four weeks for foreign countries.

i W. S. Leatherwood, for ten years superintendent of the Lanett, Ala. schools, has been elected superintendent of the Alabama City public school system. He is said to have conducted the largest elementary school in one building in the South, it being reported that the Lanett school has 1,400 chil dren in one structure.

Ten teachers were elected to assist Mr. Leatherwood and seven more will be selected before the term begins in September. MRS. WOODWARD SPEAKS Purposes Of Business Womans Club Is Outlined In Gadsden. GADSDEN, June 1.

Ala. June Special. William Kendrick Pendleton Wilson, prominently identified with business, political and social life in Mobile, died in Petersburg, according to information received by relatives here. Mr. Wilson had been in failing health for some time.

The management of two of the United Cigar Company's stores in Birmingham faced Judge Dinsmore in police court Tuesday morning charged with permitting their employes in charge of the soda founts to violate the sterilization ordinance relative to rinsing spoons, glasses and other equipment used in serving drinks.

The health officers who made the arrests stated to the court that the places in question were equipped with the necessary sterilizers, but during the rush of business, the dispensers in charge had become careless and had ignored the ordinance. Judge Dinsmore imposed fines of $5 in each case and admonished the ac cused not to appear in court again charged with the same offsense as the penalty would, be most severe. These arrests were made at the instigation of Dr. J. D.
