Police said unknown persons stole a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville owned by Walter Knapp, 1236 E. Center while it was parked near his residence. The car, which is red in color, has a Pennsylvania registration plate TRA-907. Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 773-2310. All information will be kept strictly confidential.

Nineteen kindergarten students of Mahanoy City Catholic School greeted nearly 200 assembled parents, grandparents, siblings and other well-wishers at their recent graduation ceremony in St. Canicus R.C. Church, Mahanoy City. Rev. Edward Kulik, pastor of St.

Casimir's R.C. Church, led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance after which Sister M. Carmencita, principal, welcomed the graduates and their guests. The children entertained the audience with a variety of songs ranging from the touching "We Are Little Gifts" to the humorous "My Dog's Bigger Than Your Dog." The graduates were accompanied by Maryanne Jarrett, pianist, and recessed from the stage with a song.

The ceremony was followed by refreshments and the 19 youngsters were presented with various favors provided by the school's parent-teacher-organization. July birthdays were also celebrated at the picnic. Hamburgers and hot dogs on the grille outside, along with salad, relishes, beverages and watermelon were served to the residents and their guests by members of the Geriatric Center's Guild.

A sing-along of patriotic songs followed the- picnic luncheon. The birthdays of 10 residents were celebrated and gifts distributed by the Guild. Oberving their birthdays this month are: Gildo Ferrari, May Rummel, Stanley Mlynek, Edna Turner, Hannah Williams, Olga Hill, Margaret McCready, James Folk, Mary Shears and Elizabeth Reed. Those who observed their 80th or more year also received a congratulatory birthday card from President Bush and his wife, Barbara. The day's activities were coordinated by Mrs.

Marilyn Funk, T.R.S.W., actvities director at the Geriatric Center. A farewell party was held recently for guest Mrs. Beulah Farr, who left the center for New Haven, Conn.
