Confirmed by the Pope. Rt. Rev. Bishop Haid, of the Catholic monastery at Belmont, was Saturday officially notified of the confirmation by Pope Leo XIIL, of Father Charles Mohr. as first abbot of St.

Leo's abbey in Florida. He will be solemnly consecrated by Bishop Haid, on Thanksgiving Day at St. Mary's college, Belmont. St. Leo's college was established by the Belmont abbey in 1893.

He expects to return home shortly. A strolling organ grinder, accompanied by a remarkably clever little simian, has been filling all the circumambient atmosphere of Trade and Tryon streets with ragtime and other melody this halcyon autumnal -day.
