The West Side HUDEX Pace ELEVEN World War -II Air Force memories will abound at Castle Elftnoseym Thursday June 18 1981 CASTLE AFB-A reunion featuring gripping World War II stories historic aircraft former aircrew members irreplaceable military artifacts and Spam is scheduled to draw hundreds of people to a special preview of the Castle Air Museum here Friday night Public dedication ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday morning at 10 am at the Air newest official air museum Aircraft on display will include a B-17 B-25 B-29 A-26 U-6 and other historic airplanes The museum already has 12 air-planes in its inventory to 30 members of the 94th Bomb Group Association plan to attend the Friday night fundraiser and USO-type show and said Maj Leo Vrana co-chairman of the gala preview were save the State $9 million-such a savings is particularly timely this week since those of us in the Legislature are attempting to hammer out a balanced budget in a year of extremely tight revenues To by Mr Perrett of Princeville Oregon who purchased Gill-Mustang in 1977 for $38 million felt we were blindsighted last year since no legislative hearings had occured and I had received no input form my constituents as to their feelings on the the Senator said Senator Maddy was waiting to pursue SB 214 on the Senate floor until the Director of Parks and Recreation Pete Dangermond had an opportunity to present an alternative plan wherein a smaller portion of the Gill-Mustang Ranch would be purchased to the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors Dangermond had already presented the alternative to me and if I care for it I wanted to be guided by the wishes of the Board They strongly- opposed this concept and I went ahead with the bill in tis present stated abated If anything the need for new raw materials is greater than ever and will continue to increase as the needs of a hungry over-populated world give ever greater urgency to the development of hew higher yielding pest resistant stress tolerant and better quality He then approached the concept of by saying state of the science today also requires broad inter-disciplinary teamwork and centrally supervised facilities to oversee and administer the exploration collection and conservation of genetic resources We believe these repositories would be a major contribution to germplasm conservation activities that would benefit people throughout the GENE BANKS There are other geneticists and plant scientists who see the need for gene banks In the fall of 1980 the California Gene Resource Conservation Program was created Its main
