Monday, February 25, 1074 The Times Record The Times Record-Your Great Reading Evening Paper Disease Threat Causes Concern USA DAUWAK Cohoes GirL 11, Wins Encyclopedia WASHINGTON (AP) Cattle scabies, a skin disease caused by tiny mites, continues to crop up in widely spread areas of the Great Plains despite control efforts by stale and federal authorities, The Agriculture Department said federal quarantines have been imposed in a of half a dozen counties in Texas, Kansas and Nebraska as a result of scabies outbreaks.

Counties partly quarantined because of new outbreaks include Texas -Lamb, Farmer, Hockley and Lubboek; Kansas--Wieiiila; and Nebraska--Otoe. Officials said Hie quarantines, involving specifically identified herds in those areas will be lifted in those areas, will be lifted as soon as treatment and inspection procedures have been con- duclcd to insure the disease has been eradicated.
