Rosellim, who said he would- turn it over to the state health ^director, Dr. Bernard Bucove, -with full authority to act as he saw fit. If the recommendations are carried out, the Firlan,d Sanatorium in Seattle eventually would be the only stafe-Slpportecl tuberculosis hospital In t'ecommending immediate withdrawal of financial support from the Central Washington TB Hospital at Selah and the Mountain View Sanatorium m Tacoma, the doctors said "Concentration of the 800 to 900 patients now under treatment in the state in one or two hospitals will reduce per diem costs materially and thus provide a substantial saving to the taxpayers Doctor Discusses Foot Troubles Foot trouble may not be a "killer" desease, but neglected foot disorder may mean "slow suicide", according to Dr Leiland E. Clark; fiichland representative of the American Foot Healtjf E^ujdation His remarks "vv ere made during the week declared as Foot Health Week by the foundation More than 72 per cent of the population has some sort of a foot trouble, but only 2 per cent do anything about it, he added Foot disorders most often neglected an4 'permitted to deteriorate 3iSiy cggg- ·gray.e illness onginaiiijfgt in tte°]Jpinal cord and nervous system, said Dr. Clark I of this state" In support of the plan for eventually closing the Edgecliff Sanatorium in Spokane ana" concen trating all TB patients at Firland, the doctors' report said Firland is the only hospital vuth enough bed*, to meet present needs, is located at the center of the TB population of the state, is affiliated with the University of Washington Medical School, is equipped for and doing important medical research. The doctors described Firland as "one of th« most outstanding tuberculosis hospitals in the United States " The doctors took cognizance of the fact that Seattle is a distance from Central and Eastern Washington counties "That this is not an overwhelming objection, is demonstrated by the distances already traveled by many Washington patient*." tfi« report said. The doctors reported tnat a l l four TB hospitals were m |ood condition and giving «aU»f«Ctory patient care Nevertheless, they had a bit of criticism of practices at Selah The report criticized "early surgery" upon patients at Selah, saying that they might not have needed surgery if they had been observed longer The doctors also found "potentially dangerous" a practice *f returning patients, to full time work "within as short a period as six weeks" after surgery. Rosellmi said the matter n o w rests with the State Department of Health He said the director will be asked to study the doctors' recommendations and make a final determination as to whether to follow them STARS OF KALE RADIO KEPR-TV "IT S WAYNE S j HOTTEST HIT ' WAYNE DAN DAILEY MAUREEN O'HARft i M G M i , The WlNGSof EAGIES Pasco Doctor Gets Heart Post Dr Joseph Greemvell of Pasco was elected trustee of the Washington State Heart Association at the heart group's Annual Meeting last night in Seattle ' - The Pasco physician will serve a three-year term At the Association's Annual Dinner last even- mg, Mrs Melvin Voorheecs of Pasco was cited for her two-year program of heart education act ivities in the schools of Benton and Franklin counties Mrs Voohees was awarded the Heart FRIDAY RADIO ' Big Wayne, tittle Wayne Vnd THE CASCADE TROUBADORS Your Own Northwest's Finest ; E WAGON WHEEL '""Jon 1 KENNEWICK HIGHLANDS Persons under J» years must he accompained iy sarent or Guardian NCE AND ENTERTAINMENT »' Special *ng»geH»ents -- C«j»3 W.
