3 THE BROOKLYN DAILY EAGLE. NEW YORK, TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 1921. Hupmobile Motor Motorcar and Movies Are World's Miracle Industries Auto Show Booming Along With Buyers in the Market technical sense at about an equaA pace. "In 20 years the film and thti motorcar have done much to make) the world smaller and to Increase the feeling of solidarity among peoples. They have created new mediums for happiness and pleasant hours of recreation, and their appeal Is as strong In the small backwoods town as In the greatest cities.

'The United States haa more motor, cars and motorcar companies, more motion picture studio and film theaters, than the other countries combined, and the Ameitcan product in each field is the recognised standard for the rest of the world. "Hoth Industries are fondly and truthfully referred to aa atlll being In their although each of them has become an Integral and Irreplaceable part of our life. Remember, too, that each Industry has a producing center Ketrolt and Los) Angeles, of course that Is almost without BANKERS FAVOR MOTORCARS NOW Tight Money Situation in Motorcar Business Soon to Be Ended. "Bankers In the East seem to be loosening up a little," said J. J.

Hunt, general manager Reo Motor Company, of New York, at the Motorcar Show today. "It begins to look as though the tight money situation, which has hampered the business somewhat, is soon to be over. "Of course, I don't say that things wouldn't have closed down somewhat, but I do believe that If we hadn't generally gotten Into the habit of thinking of the passenger car as a pleasure car only, the banks would not have tightened up nearly so much. "As a matter of fact, pleasure is only one of the minor advantages of the passenger car. Take Reos, for Instance; we know of a lot of firms that have bought roadsters and coupes for their salesmen, and every time they've come around and told us It was the best Investment they ever made.

A car means that many more calls can be made In a day, the salesman Isn't worn out walking around, and the company is saved high taxi fares. "Of course, the companies maintain a garage and. service men to look out THOSK who are seeking a new theme for argument will find It in discussing this Interesting question suggested by comment from C. II. Larson of the Oldsmoblle Company: "The motorcar or the motion picture which Is first In the hearts of our countrymen?" Mr.

Larson cannily makes no attempt to take sides, but merely points out many striking similarities in the two Industries. "Strange as It may seem," Mr. Larson says, "few persons reallie how many things there aro In common between the motorcar and the motion picture. Hoth of them are the 'miracle Industries' of the age In which wo live. They were given to the world at about the same time and have progressed and have been re-finrd using that word In a purely for the cars.

That's why they choose Reos. You see. they have had experience with speed wagons, and standardizing meant that their service men could take care of tho passenger car with ease, since the general principles of construction aro the same. tion, was an arrival, leading a purty ol Dodge deulers from lower California. It took two speciul cars to convey the delegation to New York.

Vice President ttiirtzmnnn of the California Oakland Company was also a Los AnKOles arrival, while others from the California city were Ralph Hamlin. Franklin distributor: Fred Wagner, automobile editor, Los Angeles Express; Walter L. Elbe, Cunningham distributor; Harry E. Herdon, H. S.

C. distributor, and Lynn C. Buxtom. Stearns and Stevens-Duryea distributor. Even the casual observer a the Show cannot help but notice the reduction in tho number ot limousines and town cars as compared with elm-pluys of other years.

On tho other hand there are moie sedans than ever before. Touring cars, roadsters, sedans and coupes complete the lines of most manufacturers participating in the exhibition. In response to the growing use of the touring car for all-year-'round service, manufacturers are devoting considerable attention to making the open car as comfortable as possible for Inclement weather. Curtains are being fitted more carefully, so as to leave no gaps around the edges. Door curtain-holders have become very popular.

Few tops are folded those days, so there Is a tendency to make the top ns strong and rigid as possible, although provision is still made for folding it if desired. The average person nowadays Is considered motorwlse, but Judging by the Interested crows that constantly surround the lecturers at the various spaces. New Yorkers are still keen for a broader knowledge of nutomoblle construction. On the first floor of the Palace, lecturers are an Important feature of the Bulck, Plerce-Arrow and Cadillac displays. They never lack for an attendance.

Cut chassis In which the respective functions of the various pieces of mechanism are clearly demonstrated to the spectators are also to be found at a number of exhibits, including the Dort, Oldsmoblle, Maxwell and Bulck. These chassis are operated by electrio motors. Among the visitors at the show were August Belmont, William Fellowes Morgan, Oscar L. Gubelmann, Frank C. Munson, P.

H. W. Ross and Brig. Gen. Guy E.

Tripp of the National Marine League will stage the next big Marine League will stage the net big show In the Palace the National Marine Exposition beginning Jan. 24 and the visitors, most of them directors of tile League, were anxious to look over conditions. They expressed 5 Generally Conceded One of the World's Finest Motor Cars CTO THOSE who respond to the finer phases of" engineering, PREMIER, with its demountable cylinder sleeves, aluminum motor, and other niceties of construction, makes an irresistible appeal. Meanwhile the artistic sense is gratified by the car's ultra fashionable rakishness of line and startling beauty. Finally, when you put the car in action, you realize what connoisseurs mean when they say unreservedly that "PREMIER is one of the world's three finest cars." The quiet, every-ready and speedy service rendered by this princely car is instantly appre- 'it HEW FIAT SHOWS SOME ENGINEERING Motorcar cnglneors the world over are a unit In hclicvitiff that efficiency in a motorcar is synonymous with economical operation.

It is true, also, that while the. American, owners of great European cars are not chiefly concerned with the cost of gasoline, they have the clear Judgment to know that a fine car which delivers extra mileage rer gallon of fuel must have been soundly designed and carefully engineered. These facts account for the keen Interest being displayed in the new Fiat offerings, which are being exhibited at the show In Grand Central Palace. Three chassis, with ten body designs, comprise the great Italian company's presentation for 1921, and-in each of them tho experienced buyer of foreign cars finds causo for honest admiration of the genius of Italian engineers and careful Italian workmanship. Model 601, the smallest of the Flat trio, achieves the notable distinction of delivering 27 miles to the gallon of gasoline.

This fact in Itself is remarkable, even on superficial consideration; but only when it is realized that this performance Is accompanied by a definite and substantial saving on tires and oil, without the sacrillte of ease of riding, roadability, hill climbing, speed or any of the high-power characteristics American owners have learned to exnect in Flat cars, can the significance of this production be grjtsped. Equally remarkable In performance and high qtiallty are the models fiOlt and B10, the former a medium-sized car of such power and available body THE CAR BORN WITH A REPUTATION space as to be remarkable for tts adaptability to the varying uses of the automobile; the latter a six-cylinder, luxurious car possessing all of those highly desirable qualities as silence, flexibility, speed and high power. The Flat organization frankly assert that the engineering advances which make this exceptional performance possible are the result of Fiat's Intensive study of automotive necessities during tho World War. The huge Flat factjrles contributed a great share of tho power for the Allied airplane, truck and motorcar fleets and out of the grinding, brutal stresses of that service has come this new Flat achievement The Fiat factory program has been to "make it right" and let price take care or ltseir. The National Sextet at this year's show has a year's proof of excellence to recommend it.

KAUFMANN MOTOR CAR C0Rr Ills Broadway Mew lork (it? 1 i YM77r The second day's session of the 21st National Automobile Show In Grand Central Palace broke all records. The four floors of the exposition were thronged throughout the afternoon and evening- Despite the enormous crowd, the show has been so well planned that everyone had a good view of the cars.

What Impressed the exhibitors most favorably was that the crowd was really interested in the cars, and this. according to the dealers, means that the buying public has again entered the market. As an advance agent of prosperity to the motorcar industry the show is fully proving Its worth. Already the number of prospects listed with dealers means that there will be few Idle moments along Automobile Jtow, between now and next spring, Bales are being made off the floor at the show with a regularity that is causing some of the old time salesmen to gasp at the absolute turn about in conditions. The situation In the accessory divis ion on the third and fourth floors Is dually rood.

It is surprising the In terest there Is in the little devices that help the automobile owner to get the most comfort out ot his car. own ers are always looking for something new in this line and they will not be disappointed this year, for there are several concerns showing for the first time, while the majority of the old tandbys are also on hand In the sev ral hundred exhibitors.
