Cesare blames himself for the latest accident. Because it was Cesare, a one-time medical student, who decided personally to coach fellow guest actor Colicos on the technical use of a scalpel for an operation on camera. A few more coaching sessions were probably In order, because at the crucial moment, John went oops and the scalpel drew blood.

'4 us it seemed as binding as marriage. We broke up less than a month before he was involved in that terrible motorcycle accident on Thanksgiving Day, 1970, that paralyzed half his body. And what I went through was a painful and upsetting as any divorce could have been. I blamed myself for his accident. I returned to him because I felt I was his only link to the outside world.

I gave up my own identity for eight more months, until I felt the situation was destroying me and had to step aside. I turned Brian over to the care of his mother and neither of them could understand how I felt. The guilts I suffered! One gets the feeling she hasnt completely escaped from them yet. Michael Douglas and Brenda Vaccaro, whove been playing house together for the past four years, have decided its time to share the beauty their Benedict Canyon hideaway with the world. Theyve agreed to pose for at-home layouts for several leading periodicals as long as the photographer assigned is Peter Douglas, Michaels 18-year-old brother.

Peter was the still photographer on father Kirk Douglas' Scalawag flick which is currently in release. And according to Maggie Blya, the blythe beauty who portrays Elizabeth Taylor' daughter in the film, Its a wonder we ever completed production. Elizabeth was at the height of her domestic crisis at the time. She was sick.

And, well, she was just very difficult. Maggie says she grew very close to Elizabeth during the pictures filming, that she is fond of her and learned much working with her. However, she creates the impression that much of the knowledge she absorbed dealt with attitudes to avoid rather than acting style to emulate. She describes the woman she insists shes so fond of as having reached the point where shes simply impossible to deal with. I wonder if people realize theres a good likelihood that they wont be seeing much more of Elizabeth in Aims.

I doubt If she can take the pressure. From what Ms. Blye saw of Elizabeths behavior during Ash Wednesday involvement she formed the conclusion that the estranged Mrs. Richard Burton seems bent on self-punishment. She would eat until she couldnt fit into her costumes, then would explode in anger mostly at herself.

Shes always setting off on one of those crash diets that after all shes been through her body simply cant tolerate. And what an awesome amount of liquor she can consume though she never allows it to interfere with her work. jp- ELIABETH TAYLOR Maggie considers it ironic that her first post-Wednes-day assignment was in My Father Lives In A Downtown Hotel, the ABC afterschooi special which airs Nov. 28. Its the story of a family torn apart by marital disharmony and includes a scene in which she, as the suffering wife, is advised by her sister that divorce isnt the end of the world, that shes still beautiful with happiness awaiting.

Its funny, Maggie says, That that was exactly the philosophy I was preaching to Elizabeth during Ash Wednesday shooting when she was reacting so miserably to her troubles with Richard. Its also a philosophy which the young lady firmly believes although she has never officially been married. She did live with actor Brian Kelly for three years, however, and to I A fcuvdk 'wwW, MICHAEL DOUGLAS weekend for his brothers picture snapping session. a TELEVIEW: Nancy Fox got her job back last week as a Temperatures Rising co-star. Nancy was producer Bill Asher'i find and the cutie who began making his temperature rise after Elizabeth Montgomery decided she was tired of being his wife last year.

When shakeup of cast and crew occurred at the end of the series first silly season, both Asher and Nancy were out of the production. Several weeks ago Asher was rehired to helm the faltering show and one of his first bits of professional duty was to re-sign Nancy to the cast. Wednesday, ABC cancelled the show. So much for the best-laid plans. Cesoro Danova is an actor who suffers for his art.

Back Anne B. Davis says that everyone more than four feet tall calls her Schultzy, and anyone under four feet calls her Alice. By PENNY P. ANDERSON Anne B. Davis Is a television staple.

You know It the moment you catch sight of her. Wearing her strawberry-blonde hair knotted atop her head, a blue housekeeper's uniform and a crisp white apron. she rings an immediate bell. Where have I seen her before? you ask yourself. Then it comes to you.

Thats Schultzy! BROADCAST PIONEER Youre right. And youre wrong. Anne was Schultzy on the old Bob Cummings Show, a broadcast pioneer to say the least. And although most of us remember her from that series (which faded 11 years ago), todays bubblegum set will tell us tersely that Anne B. Davis is Alice five-year-veteran of ABC-TVs The Brady Bunch.

I have my own set of demographics. laughs the jaunty actress. Anyone over four feet tall knows me as Schultzy. Anyone under four feet tall calls me Alice. Either way, shes happy that people just remember her.

These are such good times, she crows. Im superstitious enough to wonder when the sky is going to fall in on me. STEADY WORK Good times to Anne means steady work wherever it may take her. Since she started her professional acting career at the Erie (Pa.) Playhouse as a young girl, it has taken her over most of the highways and byways of America and the world. In the 11 years between The Bob Cummings Show demise and the beginning of The Brady Bunch Anne devoted much of her professional energies to entertaining American servicemen in Vietnam and Korea.

Its funny, she says, but my U.S.O. tours are a subject most people wont even discuss with me. Talk show hosts, for example, dismiss the subject with everyones done that. But everyone, apparently has not undertaken that particular type of project, Anne claims and as an active supporter and administrator of the U.S.O. for many years, she should know.

As the war wound down and its unpopularity increased Fewer and fewer celebri- Youll have to be more than just a kid to remember the special Aloha" currency printed by the Treasury Department during World War II. For those too young to recall, the readily-recognizable bills were printed with the Hawaiian identification In the event they fell into enemy hands and could be honored only by the U.S. Government. Now, some 30 years later, the funny money becomes the springboard for a dramatization of NBCS The Magician, in a story about a fictional army payroll theft of the special bills. Paramount Studios production department, after extensive digging, was able to turn up the incredible sum of $720,000 in the Aloha bills, saved as mementos by collectors.

They werent people wed have chosen If wed had our way. FEWER CELEBRITIES At home, on American soil, the New York-born actress has appeared in almost every little hamlet that has a theater. I was one of the first TV actresses to go on the road, she recounts.

I even beat Vivian Vance (I Love Lucy). I started it when the Cummings Show went off the air and we werent even sure if a TV actress would be an audience draw. At it turned out, we were very successful and the dinner theaters and stock circuits really kept me going for years. Until The Brady Bunch came along, in fact, and I could cut back on touring. That Bunch of kids, dogs and misadventure cropped up five years ago, and the fact that it has lasted so long is something which Anne claims everyone including the network is still finding difficult to believe.

ON THE ROAD Today, when Brady Bunch breaks for yearly haitus, Anne still takes to the road, appearing in one play or another.

Earlier this year she spent eight months in the national company of No, No, Nanette! I was away from home the entire duration of our haitus. By the time I returned, I had one week to rest so I checked myself into La Costa (a popular Southern California spa) and fell apart." What made the road trip more arduous than it might otherwise have been was the fact that Anne is a compulsive driver and insisted upon motoring from town to town. It was a real journey, she said, with both a smile and a wince. She packed her poodle, i into her Porsche sports car and headed out with a spirit bursting with adventure. By the time she returned in June, I was lucky just to get us all back home in one piece me, Nitnoy, and the car.

CAR BREAKS DOWN During one misadventure, the trio arrived for an opening performance in Seattle only 45 minutes before curtain time because the Porsche had broken down in a tiny Oregon town. Had it not been for the generosity of two strangers who offered to tow the car and tote the actress and her pet into Seattle, theyd have never made it at all. In her travels, Anne has discovered just how popular Al-l the inimitable housekeeper of the Brady Bunch really is. Kids recognized me everywhere I went. I was in some small Texas town buying Nitnoy some dog food at a small grocery store when suddenly two small round eyes were peering up at me and a little voice was saying, Hello, Alice.

Mingling with the public in the larger towns has proven a bit more challenging, Anne admits. FAST DISGUISE When we were in Washington, D.C. with Nanette, I couldnt leave the hotel. It was summer and there were busloads of school kids in town. One day I got so frustrated I borrowed a huge hat that covered most of my head, put on dark glasses and ran to the Capitol Building just for a quick peak then ran back to the hotel.

zJykpVANCEMENT OF CAPTURE IOVVLEDGE Float 3 apples close together in a bowl. Let the water from the faucet fall between them. Instead of pushing them apart it will hold them together. This is because a rapid stream of liquid has lower pressure. The stream from the faucet lowers the pressure between the apples and the greater atmospheric pressure on the outside of the apples presses them together.

Successful Bachelor? An atom is smaller than anything you can imagine. About 25,000,000 atoms placed side by side would stretch only across the head of a pin. Yet an atom itself consists of other tiny particles. In some ways an atom resembles a tiny solar system. At the center of the atom is a nucleus.

Tiny particles of matter called electrons spin around the nucleus, somewhat as the planets spin around the sun. The nucleus consists of two kinds of particles strongly bound to each other. These particles are called protons and neutrons. The protons and neutrons can be split into still smaller particles. But protons and neutrons, along with electrons, are considered to be the three main kinds of particles making up atoms.

A proton is a bit of matter that carries a positive charge of electricity. A neutron is a bit of matter weighing about the same as a proton. A neutron has no electrical charge. Electrons are tiny particles of matter that weigh only about 11800 as much as a proton. Each electron carries a negative charge of electricity.

Since there is one electron for each proton in the nucleus, the positive charges of the proton cancel out the negative charges of each electron. This balance makes the atoms electrically neutral. Atoms differ from one another in the number of particles they are made of. FUN TIME The Chuckle Box Boss to New Workman: I suppose the foreman told you what to do. New Worker: Yes sir.

I really have about everything a guy could want because I've worked all my life and have always striven for success in whatever I attempted.

I'm what is known as a winner but lately I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I'm kidding myself and I'm really a loser. I've gone to the top of the business world and right now, I've enough money to be more than comfortable for the rest of my life. But I've never been able to share any personal relationship. I just can't make it and, in this sense, I suppose I'm a failure. When I say I can't make it, I don't mean sexually.

I'm a big hit with call girls and there are a good many in my life. In fact. I'm never short of female companionship, but I've never married. I have no family and sometimes, in spite of everything, I get very lonely. A.N.

Dear A.N.: Many men and women are afraid of close relationships. They are afraid of being hurt, of not succeeding, and so they protect themselves in every way possible. Usually, the reason for this fear can be found in early childhood development. Fear Of Close Relationships Sometimes when a child grows up in a family where there Is no tenderness, but only tension and anger, the child learns to distrust all relationships and feels that they can only lead to pain. If this is the background, it is not surprising that the adult should see close relationships as dangerous.

This fear of close relationships and of basic distrust of other people is often totally unconscious and the person is not aware of his real feelings. Going to call girls or prostitutes is safe because no commitment is demanded and there is no real understanding or relationship. Some men can perform only with prostitutes, for sexual relations with women of their own social level either leave them completely cold or involve them in sexual relations in which they do not function satisfactorily. Often there is so much guilt about sex that unless the act is performed with a stranger it would be almost unbearable. The presence of guilt feelings about sex is often disguised and unrecognized by the person who feels it.

How Do You Measure Success? Some men are so success-driven that they fear relationships with women, other than prostitutes, because they think they need to perform as a kind of super sex-machine with every woman. They separate sexuality from tenderness and affection and see it only as another mechanical situation they must control and win. They may ask themselves afterwards, How good a job have I done? rather than, Did I give and receive pleasure? The drive for success may be so strong that it overshadows everything else and places life and love on a highly competitive merry-go-round. As many psychiatrists have pointed out, success should not mean how much money you earn, or how big a house, car, or boat you may own. Success is personal and not a competition to outdo someone.

It often comes from the deep satisfactions that arise from sharing adult experiences with someone you trust and love. If you could get professional guidance now, you might find that the quality of your life would be greatly improved. You are a young man in need of help because until you can enjoy full, deep, close relationships with others you are being robbed of much that you would find rewarding. i 8 .8 Starting at 8 P.M.
