PALM DESERT, Calit (UPI) Orville Davis, 87, a one-time owner of the Entura Daily Free Press whose career lapsed into business, magazines and films, died here Friday. DRIVERS FJfJED INDIANAPOLIS. (UPI) The United States Auto Club today levied fines totaling $1,700 against former Indianapolis' "500" winners Parnelli Jones and Rodger. Ward for "fla- gant" violation of the yellow flag rule at Milwaukee last Sunday. Jones, last year's "500" champion and winner of the 200-mile big car race at Milwaukee, was fined largest fine ever levied against a driver by Ward was fined $600.

Henry Banks, USAC's director of competition, said Jones was fined for running too fast and for passing cars under the yellow caution light. Ward was fined because he also passed cars while the caution flag was displayed, Banks said. The fines were levied following a study of timing and scoring sheets by chief steward Harry McQuinn and referee Rhiman Rotz. "A thorough study revealed beyond doubt both men were guilty of ignoring the yellow flag," said Banks. He said both drivers admitted they were guilty of passing cars under the yellow.
