September 19 Shortly before noou to-day a Standard Oil Company tug collided with the approach to the East avenue bridge crossing Xewtown Creek, between Greenpolnt and Long Island City, whilo attempting to pass through the draw, and so damaged the approach that the bridge Is closed to wagons until it can be repaired. Fortunately the bridge itself war, open at the time ol the accident and when closed a footway for pedestrians was quickly built so that Newtown Creek is not quite Impassable at that point.
