Doc Sevcrinsen Doc 9 9 Hersey band do a duet Saturday Doc Severinsen. trumpet soloist and director of the NBC "Tonight Show" band, will direct the Hersey High School band in its sixth annual Pops Concert Saturday at the school. Two concerts will be presented, one at 4 p.m. and a second at 9 p.m. General admission tickets are $3 and are on sale at the school.

This will be the second time the Hersey band has played with Severinsen. The school's symphonic winds performed with him in February at the Northwest Band Clinic in Moorhead. Minn. Prospect Harper taking diet technician program signups Applications are now accepted at Harper College for enrollment in the fall 1974 dietetic technician program. The two-year program leads to an associate in applied science degree. Students of the program receive classroom instruction on the college campus, and experience in supervised clinical practice at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Northwest Community Hospital and Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Requirements for applicants include a high school diploma or equivalent with one year each of mathematics and general science. Candidates will take a college aptitude test and have a personal interview with the program coordinator.

Writing contest open to high school pupils The Harper College communications division is sponsoring a writing competition in imaginative literature for area high school students. The entries will be judged in the following categories: short fiction of 1,000 to 3,000 words; one-act plays at approximately 5-10 minutes playing 1 time, and poetry of up to 50 lines. All entries must be typed, double- spaced, and received by April 24. Winners will be announced May 3.
