'AROUND THE WORLD' MOVIE SET FOR WOMEN'S CLUB MARCH 8 Open to the public, adults only, with no admission charge, on Tuesday, March 8, at 3:30 p.m., a colored movie will be shown, with appropriate music, entitled "Around the World with Norman Rockwell." The board of education of Palm Springs Unified School district allowed the use of the recreation room of the Desert Hot Springs School for the viewing of this educational as well as colorful picture. Principal Joseph R. Karvyia, in spite of limited leisure time, has volunteered to operate the movie projector.

The Pan American World Airways System has loaned this outstandingly delightful film for this entertainment. Each member of the Women's Club has asked to take one of her dollars and "stretch it" to make money toward the purchasing of a site for a building for the club. This is Mrs. Adele Green's project toward that end. Her hobby Is travel.

She has made a trip around the world, was in Nepal, India for the King's Coronation in 1957, toured all around South America, wintered In Mexico and Central America, summered in Alaska, vacationed on several occasions in Europe, motored from Cape Breton Island, Newfoundland across Canada to Jasper Park and Vancouver and through every state in the union. She is currently booked to fly from New York July 1 to join a party an safari from Nairobi, Kenya Into Uganda and the Belgian Congo, then to tour East and South Africa. While living on the east coast she gave travel talks to such organizations as political clubs, Women's Clubs, American Legion posts, church auxiliaries, and educational groups. An Air Force spokesman confirmed issuance of the directive after parts of it were made public by a private 'Flying Saucer' research group." According to the UP story, "The Air Force has investigated 6312 reports of UFOs since 1947, including 183 during the last six months of 1959." Dr. Hopkins will answer the question as to whether "we are being watched and ruled by other worlds." The famed doctor is no "fly by night" lecturer. He has been president of Williams College, Berkeley, for more than 22 years. As a graduate of Drake University he holds the Phi Beta Kappa, honorary scholastic fraternity key as well as Phi Sigma, honorary language fraternity. He graduated a Doctor of Philosophy in 1940 and is listed in America's exclusive Blue Book.

Dr. Hopkins is northern vice president of a National Saucer organization and well informed on various aspects of this challenging subject so frequently discussed although the latest Air Force statement issued a month ago, said, "no physical or material evidence, not even a minute fragment of a so-called flying saucer, has even been found." DHS Girl Scouts Mark 'Birthday' Girl Scouts of Desert Hot Springs will celebrate the organization's 48th birthday the week of March 6 through 12. Women's Club of Desert Hot Springs has announced the winners of last week's International Festival postei" contest to be: Kenneth Gunn, first prize, with a special award to Jackie Quick; Randa Jacobson, second; Danny Werner, third, and a special award for originality to Pat Pagan. There were 15 posters made by the school children of Desert Hot Springs. All posters were placed on display prior to the event, and adjudicated the week the Festival opened at town hall.
