TWELVE THE CORSICANA DAILY SUN. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 80, 1939. ICKES AGGRIEVED OVER ACTION JUDGE WILSON AT HOUSTON CABINET MEMBER COMMENTS ALLRED-POWERS HOT OIL CASE WASHINGTOX, Nov. Secretary Ickes, in a formal statement, said today he felt aggrieved that Federal Judge James C. Wilson at Houston, Texas, had terminated a "hot oil" case "without allowing the government to present completely the evidence which it had comment, which he he regarded it his "official duty" to make, dealt with the case of the government against Allred and Powers, in v'hich the decision of Judge 'Wilson pi'ovided for a $1,000 fine each for alleged violation of the Connally hot oil act.

The defendants, in a suit brought November 20 were Renne Allred, brother of James 'V. i Allred, former governor of Texas, Neal Powers, an oil operator, and H. E. Hines. They were indicted, Ickes said, on nine misdemeanor counts and one felony count charging 45 overt acts In furtherance of conspiracy to sell in interstate markets more oil than their quota under the six- state oil compact.

Everett Jones, San Antonio Episcopal pastor, told Texas teachers today the spirit of intolerance and prejudice that seems to oppres.s minority groups is among most serious threats to the welfare of the United States. Speaking at a joint Thanksgiving service to which the San Antonio Ministers Assoication had vited delegates attending the State convention, the Rev. Mr. Jones said the most serious threats facing the country are not an unbalanced budget or the struggle for the rights of labor. The state parks board stands ready to co-operate in all phases of the development program for I the Big Bend National Park.
