A third of this new immigration consists of persons with academic degrees and almost all of them are now successfully integrated in the life of the country. A large number of the newcomers are physicians practicing their profession in various new development areas.

Mr. Geva noted that this year the anticipated immigration from the free world, particularly from the United States, will be significantly higher, and suitable preparations for absorbing these new citizens have been made both by the Jewish Agency and the Israel Government. A series of three meetings will be held next week "to fully inform women contributors about the perilous situation of Jews in Israel and other countries overseas, and about the critical need to sustain our Jewish agencies in Milwaukee and across the United States," Mrs. Orenstein said. "We will explain candidly why we must do our part to meet the Jewish community goal of $4,300,000." Guest speaker at the first two meetings will be Rina Kishon, a former Miss Israel. These meetings will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m.

After being settled in Israel, Miss Kishon attended the Israeli DR. CARL VOSS ientation meeting for Women's Division contributors to the 1970 campaign.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Murray Wein-grod, 3874 N. Sherman blvd.

Mrs. William H. Orenstein, Women's Division chairman, said Dr. Voss "offers a rare opportunity to learn from an expert about the critical problems facing Israel, particularly in regard to absorbing its own newcomers and the prospects for resolving the dilemma of the Arab refugees." Dr. Voss recently returned from a tour of Israel and Arab lands.

He studied the refugee problems of both Arabs and Jews during this journey of several months to transit centers for Jewish refugees in Paris, Marseilles and Vienna; Arab refugee camps in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt, and the new settlement of Jewish immigrants in Israel. He visited the new installations of the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Joint Distribution Committee, interviewed recently arrived Israeli settlers, and conferred with Israeli leaders. Dr. Voss brought back a new and vivid story of an Israel reborn and the extraordinary accomplishments of Israel's people in giving haven to more than a million and a half newcomers in the past 23 years. Dr.

Voss, a un of the American Christian Palestine Committee, has long been an effective and eloquent spokesman on behalf of Zionist aspirations and the achievements of Israel. He is the author of a number of books, including The Palestine Problem Today; This Is Israel; The Universal God, an interfaith anthology; and Rabbi and Minister, a dual biography concerning the lifelong friendship and interrelated ministries of the late Rabbi Stephen S. Wise and the Rev. John Haynes Holmes. He has further authored In Search of Meaning; Living: Religions of the World; Stephen S.

Wise: Servant of the People; Selected Letters; and the anthology of John Haynes Holmes which is now being completed and which will be entitled: A Summons Unto Men. Dr. Voss served as minister of the New England Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs from 1956 to 1964. He was a 1964-65 Visiting Professor of Theology and The History of Religion at the Theological School at St. Lawrence University and has taught as well at the New School for Social Research in New York City and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.

Kfar Saba police have arrested two deserters from the Israel army charged with having stolen army equipment which they hoped to sell to Arab terrorists. Both of the accused are Yemenites, one of whom lived in a synagogue connected with the Chabad Hassidim and the second the product of a strict religious upbringing. Apparently strong religious indoctrination is no guarantee of immunity to corrupting influences. The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones.
