Friday, May 16, 1975' The Ottawa journal 15 Says Foolish Pleasure's trainer it Post position is not important in Preakness By STU CAMEN BALTIMORE, MD. (UPI) The luck the draw Thursday in determining post position for Saturday's 100th running of the $150,000 added Preakness Stakes at Pimlico won't play an important fac tor in the eventual outcome of the race, according to the trainer and jockey of 6-5 favorite Foolish Pleasure. "It seems good to me, I'm perfectly happy," said Leroy Jolley," after it was determined Foolish Pleasure, winner of 11 of his 12 starts, including the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, would leave from post No. 4 in the 10-horse field. "Unlike the Derby, it's a narrower field here and not as much luck is involved, but it's still just as great a test as the Derby.

But I'm glad to see the speed horses are on the outside of us." The speed horses Jolley referred to are Singh ande Native Guest, both of whom missed the Derby but are here to challenge Foolish Pleasure's bid to add the second jewel of thoroughbred racing's triple crown to his of victories. Cynthia Phipps' Singh, unbeaten in four starts this year, was forced to skip the Derby because of an injured leg. He will be ridden by Angel Cor-dero and drew post posi Graded Saturday At ConnavoM Park -Post Tlmt 7.45 p.m. FIRST Pan, Condllloatd, Puna $700. a.

Levin's Native Guest, who didn't begin his racing career until seven weeks ago and is unbeaten in all four of his starts, drew post and will have Sandy Hawley in the saddle. Jacinto Vasquez, Foolish Pleasure's jockey, agreed with Jolley on the theory of post position for, the 1 5-16 mile Preakness.

"Post position doesn't mean too much here because you have almost a quarter of a mile before the first turn to get position," said Vasquez. "If you don't get position by then, you'll never get it." Vasquez, who does most of his regular riding in New York, flew here Wednesday night just to give Foolish Pleasure his final workout Thursday morning and then caught a plane back to Aqueduct for his riding assignments Thursday afternoon. "He went very well today," said Vasquez after Foolish Pleasure was clocked in 46 4-5 seconds for a half-mile and galloped out five-eighths of a mile in one minute flat. "I was very pleased," added Jolley. "He worked just like I wanted him to, Now, we'll just walk him, Friday and give him an easy gallop Saturday morning."
