Lehew has been associated with the Stampeciers since 1959 when he first came to Calgary as a guest coach at training camp. In I960 he joined the organization on a permanent basis as co-ordi-nator of minor football development and as an assistant to the general manager.

Born in Corsicana, Texas on July 30, 1928, Lehew -was raised in the oil fields of East Texas. He attended the University of Tulsa and was-successful in both the academic and athletic fields. He was a lineman at Tulsa from 1946 through 1949 and he graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While coaching a Tulsa high school team to an undefeated season in 1950, he continued in education and received his Masters' degree in educational administration in 1951. Following a tour in the U.S.
