PORT CLINTON City council last night heard a finance committee recommendation for not passing legilation relative to November tax levy renewals before Sept. 15. Chairman William Anderson said his committee felt such legislation would tend to confuse voters on the existing issues.

Anderson also said two levies have been placed on the tax duplicate for the 1961-62-63 collection. "The city has funds coming in from these levies in he said, "But this does not mean voters will be paying, for taxes on one and voting on another tax also." Anderson said placing a renewal levy on the ballot may give voters the idea they are doubling up on a tax. "They aren't," he said. The two levies are the city reational levy of one-half mill and the street mairttaince and repair levy of mill. Council passed two resolutions.

One determines the amounts and rates decided by the budget commission, and provides for submitting to the commission the necessary tax levies, certifying them to the county The other provides a transfer of funds within the municipal court budget. Council also passed an ordinance authorizing the safety service director to advertise for bids for a gas-fired hot water boiler for the city water works. an eight-inch storm sewer with catch basins in the street. Council gave its approval to the plans. Approval was also given on the recommendation of the zoning committee for the reclassifying of property of the Frank Russell estate, near Swan and Bond Streets, The property would thereby rc- zoned from the re.sklpnlial to Ihc business district.

Plans for changes in the zoning code in the business district were discussed, but no action was taken pending futher study and a public hearing which was for Oct. 9. This change would involve a change in the ordinance of the village. Council approved Ihc purchase of a riding mower for use in the street and park department al an estimated cost of $740 Specifications for the removal of 16 trees in the village will be advertised for bid b'y the tree committee. A lran.sfer of funds amounting to $.500 from the police to the fire protection fund within the safely account was approved.

Council members will make inquiry as to what services are available to Uiem for a consultant engineer's advice, and Mayor Albert Wharff will appoint a new member to the planning commission at the next council meeting. Area Hospitals rtsHERtrrus BIRTHS Sons to Mr. and Mrs. Howaitl Wheeler. 37 S.
