Trinity students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average to qualify for the honor. Area residents include: Crawley, Jocelyn Kemink, Joshua Klein, Linsey Veldboom. Bridgeview Abubakr Meah. CHICAGO Morales participates in art project Susana Morales, of Chicago, participated in a diverse exhibition of drawings by Valparaiso University students that explored themes ranging from the manipulation of youth in modern society to people's disconnection from the environment. The exhibition "Doody and Friends" featured works created by the students in an advanced drawing course.

Morales, a sophomore social work major, is the daughter of Edith Cruz. She is a graduate of Latin School of Chicago. JUSTICE Home alone safety class The Justice Park District, 7747 S. Oak Grove is holding a class to teach children safety while they are home alone from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb.

4. The fee is $5 for residents and nonresidents. The class is for children in first through sixth grade. Information: (708) 458-1370. LEMONT Math contest participants Mount Assisi Academy's math team participated in the Catholic Math League South math contest that took place on Jan.

19. Under the guidance and direction of math teachers and team moderators Linda Frieh and Susie Morrissey, six Mount Assisi students earned high scoring marks in the competition. Senior Mary Beecher, of Lemont, earned a high score for her work in pre- calculus and junior Mary Doyle, of Homer Glen, received a high mark in algebra H. Sophomore Megan Sempkows- ki, of Worth, earned a high score in geometry, while the top score in algebra I was earned by freshman Lisa Izquierdo, of Lemont. Seniors Julie Mlynarski, of Palos Heights, and Mary Tully, of Chicago, earned third-place honors in the oral competition.

For several consecutive school years, Mount Assisi's math team has received recognition for its work in the CMLS math contests. LEMONT Dinner dance The 19th annual Lemont High School Band Benefit Dinner Dance, featuring the music of the school's jazz bands, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to midnight March 1 at the Willowbrook Ballroom, 8900 S. Archer Willow Springs. All proceeds from the event support the award-winning Lemont High School band programs.

Hors d'oeuvres will be served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and dinner will follow at 7:30 p.m. The dancing portion of the evening will begin at 8:30 p.m. and run through the rest of the night. The evening will also include raffles for cash and prizes. All winners will be announced between 10 to llp.m.

Tickets for the Band Benefit Dinner Dance are $50 per person. Admission is $10 for those interested hi attending only the dancing portion of the event; those individuals may not enter until 8:30 p.m. The deadline for reservations is Feb. 16. Tickets and reservations: (708) 415-2819.

LOCKPORT Library programs offered Registration is now being taken for Winter Story Times, Toddler Times and Terrific Twos at the Des Plaines Valley Public Library District in Lockport and Crest Hill. These programs meet weekly for six weeks beginning the week of Feb. 4. There is no charge for the Toddler Time and Terrific Twos programs, but there is a one-time $5 craft fee ($10 for nonresidents) for Story Time, which covers the entire six-week session. COMMUNITY CALENDAR Monday JANUARY CRETE Needlework Knot Just for Knitters, an informal group for anyone doing any kind of needlework, will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays of the month at the Crete Public Library, 1177 Main St. Information: (708) 672-8017. Tuesday JANUARY STEGER Line dancing The Steger Community Center, 3501 Hopkins, is offering line dancing classes from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays.
