26 Republican, Wednesday, Feb. 19 Beaver ladies hear fund drive reports Marcia Lenning and Lauretta Benz were hostesses Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 12, when the Beaver Ladies Club met in the Lenning home. Nineteen ladies were present. The business meeting was conducted by the president, Marcia Lenning. A report of the recent drive held in Beaver Township for funds for research organizations was given, and several letters of thanks were read from the organizations to whom the money was designated. Betty Lenning and Marlys Wetzel were the program committee. Several readings were given and Valentines were made. Lunch was served from a prettily appointed tea-table using February ideas of Valentines, Washington cherries, etc. Names of last years secret pals were revealed and names drawn for new ones for the coming year. The next meeting will be March 12 at the home of Kathryn Ernst with Ethel Lee as co-hostess. The program committee will be Marie Kirchhoff and Mae Verbrugge. Wartburg counselor at Humboldt, GC-B Admissions counselor Dale Goeke of Wartburg College, Waverly, will be visiting with prospective students and their parents at Humboldt High School and Gilmore City- Bradgate High School Thursday, Feb. 20. Goeke will be at Gilmore City at 9:45 a.m. and at Humboldt starting at 11 a.m. To schedule a visit, students Charge 1 in accident There were no injuries reported in a two vehicle accident north of Hardy Wednesday, Feb. 12. Niels Alvin Nielsen, 74, of Hardy was traveling north on county road P-66 three miles north of Hardy when he attempted to make a left turn into a farm driveway. In doing so, he collided with a pickup truck driven by Richard Youlden Roberts, 36, of Webster City who was traveling south. The Nielsen car suffered approximately $250 damage to the front and right fender while the truck driven by Roberts sustained about $200 damage to the right rear bumper. Nielsen was charged with making an improper left turn. The accident was investigated by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department. Elizabeth circle at G. Bode Finish 3rd at Creston Humboldt Junior High's jazz band copped third in the junior high division in competition at Creston Feb. 15. The band, directed by Dick Jenkins, finished behind Harlan and Creston. The Humboldt Junior High Jazz Band will perform for local audiences April 8 and 9, along with the junior high Swing Choir in their yearly show entitled Jazz-mania. Mrs. Hilda banning was hostess to her daughter, Mrs. Thompson of Forest City, and Mrs. Blair of Humboldt, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Audrey Harris, Brett and Peggy for Sunday dinner Feb. 9. Tuesday evening the Arnold Kettlesen's and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dogotch of West Bend visited Mrs. Lansing. These occasions were all in honor of her Feb. 11 birthday.
