NEIL' HOAK MOTOR SALES Used Car River Bridge Phone 3021, 5092 For a Good Deal See Neil Creative Selling 'Plus' Urged By Head Of Chrysler Creative neiiiitr plus the ability to vary the selling- and advertising pitch to meet current market conditions are needed to achieve an expanded economy in 1955. E. C. Quinn, president of Chrysler Division, Corporation, recently told the Adcraft Club of Detroit, "we, need competition plus another highly important ingredient selling that extends the market." Quinn pointed out that competition which aims only for a larger slice of the existing market means limited sales goals. He urged businessmen to shoot at two objectives for 1955 to give the Americas economy the forward look.

New Sales Area "Our number-one objective is to take a bigger bite out of the market," Quinn said. "This means extendiitg our efforts into new sales areas and contacting people we normally might not reach." To take a bigger bite will also require that businessmen see and sell a higher percentage of people per square mile. In addition, industry should continually look for and sell new additional uses for all products and spend part of each business day on efforts to get business from entirely new sources. "Real creative selling," Quinn said, "means that we must go out after a share of the business that nobody might have had if we had not gone after it ourselves." He said that reaching out for greater markets requires wider, more effective use of all advei'tis- ing media and warned businessmen that in taking on a new advertising medium, in order to reach new groups of people, it should not be at the expense of The fellow who to Iks His Htod off probobly never misses it. some other medium that Is already doing an effective job.

Thrust In Senior "The second major objective for 1955 calls for putting more thrust in our selling," Quinn said. "To do this means making selling the creative service the assistance in buying wisely the informative and interesting activity it should be. It means making people want the product more than they did before we talked td them them emotional reasons as well as logical justifications for buying right now." "This goal," he said, "requires building the public's confidence in the product, helping the buyer find out what is best for him. and then working out a way for him to buy it." He said advertising is "the first step in selling" and called for a close, realistic look at advertis ing plans for 1955. AUTOM0IILI MITl, ACCESSARIES Dorr Chevrolet Co.
