PAYS ENDURO REDUCES AIRPLANE FIRES Enduro stainless steel manufactured in Massilion plants of the Republic Steel has reduced fire hazards in aircraft. Enduro steel is used in the manufacture of manifolds.

The exhaust manifold of an aircraft' motor is subjected to exposure, for hours at a time, to the flaming gases roaring out of the cylinders. The manifold naturally becomes very hot and remains so as long as the motor is running. In the earlier days of aviation, the ordinary steel in these manifolds scaled and many fires were started by small bits of hot scale falling on the wing or fuselage. Heat resisting Enduro steel, however has done away with this hazard because the metal resists scaling at high temperatures. CLOSE MARKETS, 114.
