WEDNESDAY, AUG. 5, 1959 Rockefeller Said Ready To Campaign NEW YORK (UPDNeiwsweek magazine said Tuesday that New York's Republican state chairman L. Judson Morhouse told a group of congressmen last week that Gov.

Nelson A. Rockefeller will begin to campaign for the Republican presidential nomination before the end of the year. The magazine said Morhouse told the group Rockefeller's name will be entered in the New Hampshire primary next March 8 and that a well-financed and organized campaign will be conducted in the state. He was quoted as saying he didn't know if Rockefeller would participate personal- I ly in that campaign. In Albany, Morhouse denied he had told anyone the governor will seek the nomination.

"I have not told anyone in Washington, or anywhere else, that Governor Rockefeller will be a candidate fpr president," said Morhouse. "I have said that I believe the only circumstances under which he would become a candidate were that if a substantial seg-' ment of the public urges him to seek the nomination," he added. Newsweek said the Morhouse statement was made to a dozen eastern and northeastern congress men at a meeting at the home of New Hampshire's Rep. Perkins' Bass last week. It said Riic-sts were pledged not to discuss the meeting with newsmen or even admit it had taken place.
