Rio Grande jFlood Pounds New Bridge Rio Rico, Mexico, Oct. 2 The Rio Grande changed its course and tore at the foundation of a new international bridge today sending the 500 inhabitants of this Mexican border village fleeing from theii- homes. Kighty others were isolated on a slowly-crumbling mid-stream island and rescuers were balked in efforts to reach them by boat, Surging waters ate away the bank under 25 houses, and the bridge connecting the U. S. and Mexico was in danger of falling into the raging stream.

Martin company test pilot, 'today dived a Martin 187-medium bomber for "what is conceded to be a world's record for bombing planes," Joseph T. HarLion, company vice-president, announced. The ship's speed was not disclosed. "It was not a verlcal terminal velocity dive, but a steep one ol 65 degrees at close to full throttle," Hartson said, and it "proves the ability of the bomber to dive away from pursuit aircraft attacking it." With Shannon were two engineers, Orvillo Richardson and William Street, acting an observers. The Martin 187-bombor, christened "the Baltimore," is now, being produced in quantity for the British, Hartson said.
