A pottuck dinner wili be served after the meeting. Soccer registration set The Range Striker Soccer League will hold registration tonight at the Sleight School from 6 to 8. Hurley awards assembly set The Hurley High School will be sponsoring its annual awards assembly on Friday at 9 a.m. in the auditorium of the Hurley K-12 School. Awards, scholarships and medals of achievement will be presented to students. The public is welcome to attend. Lions to clean up The Hurley Area Lions Club will their "Adopt A- Highway" spring clean-up on Thursday.

Lions Club members are asked to meet at Ozzie's Bar at 5 p.m. Food will be served at Ozzie's following the clean-up. For more information call Dick Hamann at 561-2737. Golf league to organize The Eagle Bluff ladies golf league will hold an organizational meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse.

Teams will be formed and all women of the clubs are welcome to attend. Anyone needing more information, or unabte to attend the meeting and would like to be on a team, call Kay Tenlen at 561-4133. Westgate open house set During National Nursing Home Week, Westgate Living Centre in tronwood will hold a open house Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to 'attend.

Chamber meeting set BESSEMER The Bessemer Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the library of the A.D. Johnston High School. Survivors group meets The Survivors Group for Widowed Persons will meet for lunch Thursday at noon at the Iron Nugget in Hurley. Snowmo club meets May 20 MARENISCO The Yooper Sno-Riders Snowmobile Club will meet Tuesday, May 20, at 6 p.m.

Finnish worship set WAKEFIELD There will be a Finnish-language worship service at the AH Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield on Sunday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Olaf Rankinen of South Range will be the guest speaker. The service will include Finnish hymns, scripture readings in the Finnish language, and Holy Communion. Refreshments will be served after the service. All Finnish speaking people are welcome to attend.

Crowning ceremony set A May Crowning ceremony wil! be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. The ceremony will include the praying of the rosary. Barbecue, pie social set The Golden Years Senior Citizens Association is sponsoring a barbecue and pir; social Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vtckl Charles Ludwi'ck, retired post commander of the Michigan State Police and a trainer in police response to domestic violence, was the guest speaker at a Domestic Violence Escape, Inc.

seminar called "Police Response to Domestic Violence for Police Officers, Prosecutors and Victim Services." The event was held at Gogebic Community College. Ludwick is pictured with DOVE personnel including, from left, Kim Kolesar, executive director; Salli Hpitz, legal advocate; Jeannine Hill, director; and Stefanie Rodriguez, shift manager. Ludwick is a former mayor of Wakefield and was stationed at the Wakefield Post. He retired in 1993 from the SaultSte. Marie Post.

Poppy Princess Joanna Aijala, 5, daughter of John and Sandy Aijala, is a junior member of the Hurley American Legion Auxiliary to Post 58. She is a third generation member, as her grandmother, Gretchen Giancola, and her mother are also members. The poppy represents the life blood of men and women in service of our country. "Wear a Poppy to honor those who have died, those who have served and in the service now. Let us show we cars," said a spokesman for the auxiliary.

Poppy Day in Hurley is set for Friday. AARP workshop scheduled The Upper Peninsula AARP Workshop will be held in Ironwood on Thursday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Country Kitchen. In attendance will be representatives from all chapters, news Spring concert Kindergarten through sixth grade students of the Central School in Wakefield will present their spring concert Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
