Mar. 8, 1969 Burnley Workshop keeps 65 people hopping Donald Bogart--drilling wetter hole in four-inch bottle brush Beverly Smith--fusing nylon threads Imogene Mullen--weaving nylon ferrules EAST STROUDSBURG Sixty five handicapped people are currently working on 21 contracts at the Burnley Workshop, one of which is a four-inch bottle brush for the Volckening of Brooklyn, N.Y, There are actually 30 contracts now held by Burnley Workshop, but only 21 arc active at the present time. The workshop, located on the corner of Crystal and Washington streets, is a beehive of activity spread over three floors. a a i assembled for Budd Manufacturing of Philadelphia, which will be used on the new high speed trains now being developed.

There are trouble tracers for automobiles being assembled for a firm in Milford. A total of 30,000 pounds of rubber bands are sorted and boxed each year, correction tapes for typewriters are assembled, valves are put a a a packages are put together. Giant steel brushes are being assembled for Weiler Brush in Cresco. Virtually every local company has a contract at Burnley. Burnley Workshop is currently in the midst of obtaining funds to construct a $450,000 building near Pleasant Valley Manor, the Monroe County home for the aged, in the Snydersville area.

Burnley, under the direction of James A. Reed, president of the board, and Salvatore Palazzolo, executive director, is attempting to receive a 49 per cent grant from Pennsylvania and a 15 per cent gift from the federal Appalachia program. A meeting will be held in Harrisburg on Monday concerning the needed funds. Burnley Workshop is also a member of the Community Chest.
