ATTRACTIONS ON THE SCREEN AND STAQE Gary Cooper Will Be The Westerner" in Action at the Fox Theater Today Gary Cooper is "The Westerner" at the Fox today and will be seen that theater through Wednesday. Assisted by Dana Andrews and Wlter Brenrian, he portrays the west in the days of bitter battle between ranchers and homesteaders. He is in a rough-and-ready, quick- on-the-trigger role. The second attraction will be a comedy, with music, based upon television broadcasting.

David Bruce, Cleatus CaldweH and a newcomer, Nina Hunter, are the stars. PARAMOUNT. "The Yearling," starring Gregory Peck and Jane Wyman, with Claude Jarman, as Jody, is currently entertaining Paramount audiences, who are finding it all that critics have called it--one of the truly grtat pictures of 1946. The screen version, in technicolor, captures all of the story value of the struggles of the Baxter family to eke out a living in the Florida ecrub countrv. CIVIC.

Egg and movie version of the hilarious best-seller by that name, will be a Civic offering through Monday. Fred MacMurray and Claudette Colbert star as the honeymooning couple struggling on a chicken ranch. At the Junior today and tomorrow will be "Home on the Range," starring Monte Hale and Adrian Booth, and "To the Shores of Tripoli," with John Payne, Maureen O'Hara and Randolph Scott starring. ORPHEUM. "Kit Carson" and "The Last of the Mohicans" are two thrilling chapters in American history.

These chapters will unfold on the Orpheum screen days, starting today. Starring in "Kit Carson" are Jon Hall, Lynn Bari and Dana Andrews. Randolph Scott, Binnie Barnes and Henry Wilcoxen are the stars In the screen version of James Fenimore Cooper's classic which almost every schoolboy and girl has read. ELECTRIC. four Electric-audiences will see Red Skel- toa as "The Show-Off," a swaggering, self-confident fellow who is always getting into hot water.

Penny Singleton plays "Blondie" again in the second attraction, the title of which is "Blondie's Big Moment," in which she saves the day and Dagwood's job. Dagwood is playad, as usual, by Arthur Lake and IiaiTy Simms is Alexander. DeRAY. "Song of the Wasteland," starring' Jimmy Wakely, a. technicolor fcpe'eial entitled "Down Singapore Way," a cartoon, sport short and chapter 11 of "Son of Zorro" will be at the DeRay today.

Tomorrow and Tuesday the program will Include "Samurai," a shockingly realistic story of white women in Jap hands, and "Strange starring Claude Rains in a story of what could happen in thiPcountry, told in a different way. REX. Olivia de' Havilland plays a-dual role, as twin sisters, in the psychological murder mystery, "Dark Mirror," which will be at the Rex today and tomorrow. Co-starred is Lew Ayres, who, as a young psy- cHiatrist, proves which of the twins could be capable of murder and could not commit crime, at a time when the state'was powerless to prove which was guilty. Second attraction will be a cinecolor production, "Colorado Serenade," starring Eddie Dean.

DICKINSON. The encore offering of "Alexander's Ragtime Band" will be at the today and tomorrow, with Tyrone Power and Alice Faye starring as the headstrong young sweethearts in the Irving Berlin story of rhythm's conquest of mankind from the Barbary coast to Carnegie hall. The Dickinson's second treat will be a spine-tingkr, "Scared to Death," a natural color production starring Bela Lugosi. If it's fast action one likes, it.can be found in "The Westerner," to be seen at-the Fox through A scene from the picture, starring Gary Cooper, is at above. Co-bit will be 3. comedy with music based on television broadcasting. Down-to-earth realism, with heartaches and joys of simple living, will be found at the Paramount in "The an Award nominee starring Gregory Peck and Jane Wyman. It tells the story of hard fighting for existence in the Florida scrub country.
