For group information call 466 1681. Continued from First Page New Jersey born, 32 and married. He came here nine years ago after Army service and enrolled (at a girl friend's insistence) in Jeff Corey's acting classes. He soon landed a $14 a week job in the Players Gallery production of "A Hatful of Rain." Later he appeared in "The Connection," then in the irk Douglas film "Town Without Pity" and became a member of the reportory company of the Richard Boone Show on television, appearing in 26 of Boone's 30 plays, ore recenlty he was in episodes of FBI and 12 O'Clock High and in the film "This Property Is Condemned." Job as Mail Clerk Scott Wilson, the Dick Hickock for the film, grew up in Georgia where, he says, "even if you thought about being an actor, you didn't admit it out loud." He hitchhiked to Los Angeles early in 1961, arriving with $20 in his pocket. He got a job as a mail clerk at an oil company and with his first paycheck in hand enrolled in acting classes.

He spent two years with the now defunct Attic Theater workshop and it was that long before he dared to tell his mother back in Georgia that he aimed to be an actor. Meantime he also parked cars, sold magazines, worked in gas stations and as a department store box boy. It was, in spades, the belt-tightened story of the aspiring actor in Hollywood. Wilson had had one television part and a bit in one film until his agent brought him to Brooks' attention. For his screen test, Wilson did a scene from "Night Must Fall." Blake, on whom there was ample dramatic footage, did a personality test, with Brooks asking questions off-camera.

The film will be shot almost entirely on location, including the actual Clutter farmhouse where the killings occurred. Brooks is half-way through the first draft of a script, and complains that it would already run nine hours. "At that rate," he says, "we would have to show it on two successive nights, and nobody would come." Reason for Choice of Actors What Brooks says he aims to avoid is any credibility gap: The film has got to be shatteringly believable or will have failed for him. Thus the choice of virtually unknown leads in preference to the name stars who made overtures to play the parts. "Nobody," says Brooks, "will come out of the picture the same as when, he went in.

And nobody who plays in the film will be the same as when he started. I don't know if the film will be a success, or whether it will be good. But if it forces you to make a severe personal examination, I think it'll have been worthwhile. "Any good film-maker can excite an audience and it's usually fun to take that roller coaster ride. But this can't be just a wild ride you forget about when you leave the theater.

Sure you'll want to lock your doors, but that isn't the answer, and calling the police or a priest or minister isn't the answer. You better think again about your sons or your brothers or yourselves. That's the answer." Filming starts in Kansas in March, and Brooks says the boys won't ever see the full script. They'll get their pages a day ahead, and be doing the parts as if they were living them, to a point. Messrs.

Blake and Wilson will be earning their salaries, you have a feeling. jama-Jason paRps jodes-S TECHNICOLOR FROM WARNER IROS. fNlAGE -WHERE MOVIE-GOING IS AN 0 DOME PACIFIC'S Z0p03inii sunset mm vine- holltwooo ho un at Tlehtts at Ss. Calif. Music 637 Ss.
