MrAMMOND Wounded I'" 'J 1 I r'' Roll Of Missing Grows As Wires Come To Relatives WIXNirEO Folrliers who were listed as either missing or wounded made up the greater part of casualty lists issued from Ottawa Sunday and Monday.

The majority of these were men of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. In addition to the official lists, names of other men were forwarded to The Tribune by relatives. Biographical sketches of these soldiers follow: Pte. "Seotty" Law Word has been received that Pte. Henry John "Seotty" Law, 22, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Law, 272 Leila ave. West Klldonan, Is missing. Pte. Law's uife, Mrs.

Rita Law, and 20 month old daughter Carole Margaret, live at 122 Perth West Klldonan. He also has three sisters at home, Isabel, Margaret and Wilma. Pte. Law was prominent In local hockey circles with Rangers juniors and was on the championship Cameron hockey and soccer teams overseas. He played soccer when 4ne team won the Second Division trophy and defense on the hockey team when It won the Canadian Army championship.

Locally, in soccer, he played for Klldonan juniors. Born In Scotland he came to Winnipeg with his parents when he was six years old and attended Centennial school. When he was 12 he joined the Cameron cadets and went on active service at the outbreak of war. He went overseas at Christmas, 1940. His father was a member of the Imperial Camerons during Great War.

Pte. Andrew Lindsay Pte. Andrew Lindsay, 27, lfifi.l Pacific Is missing. the of Hi wife, the former Jean Young of Elmwood, Is In New Westminster. Pte.

Lindsay Is the son of Andrew J. Lindsay, a Great War veteran, and Mrs. Lindsay. He has two brothers In the services. LAC.

Robert In the R.C.A.F. and Pte Jack In the Reserve Army. Pte. Lindsay's daughter Is only 21 months old. He was born In Winnipeg and attended Brooklands school.

Pte. Harry MeFetrldoe Pte. Harry MrFetrldge. 2.1, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Henry McFetridge, 309 Newton is missing. Pte. McFetridge was with the Winnipeg Light Infantry for three years prior to the outbreak of war, and in September, 1919, transferred to the Camerons. He went overseas in December, 1940. Born In Scotland, he came to Winnipeg with his parents In 1924 and attended Centennial school.

He has two brothers In the services OS. Neil, Winnipeg, and OS. Bill, Vancouver. At home, there are five sisters, Daisy, Gladys, Grace, Barbara and Helen, and one brother, Bob. Cpl, Arthur Keep 1 Word was received Sunday evening by C.

Keep, 16.11 Ross that his son, Cpl. Arthur Keep, Is missing. Born In Winnipeg .12 years ago. Cpl. Keep attended the King Edward and Bannatyne srhnnls and was later employed at the St.

Charles Country rluh. He left the club to enlist with the Camerons In September, 19.19, and he left for overseas In August, 1940. Cpl. Keep has four brothers, all serving overseas with the Cana dian Active Army: Sgt. E.

C. Keep, P.P.C.L.I., Sgt. W. Keep, 18th Re ronnnlssance, Pie. Robert Keep, P.P.C.L.I., and Tpr.

James Keep, 18th Reconnaissance. There are also four sisters: Mrs. N. Lennox, of Moose Jaw; Mrs. A.

McDonald, 4.ri9 McGregor Mrs. J. Pratt. MVa Poison and Orva, living with her father. Pte.

Erneit W. Horner Word has been received that Pte. Ernest W. Horner, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs.

Willlnm Horner, Reston, is missing. He joined the Camerons in July, 1H40, and went overseas the following December. He has a brother How 1 ard in the army, and there are two i brothers and a sister at home with his parents. I LCpl. Harold Kinsman LCpl.

Harold Kinsman, of 572 Kylemore has been reported missing in action with the i Pte. George Bayne Pte. George Bavne, 36. whose wife. Mrs.

Nellie Bayne. lives at 4.19 Redwood Is missing. Prior to enlisting Sept. 11. 19.19, he worked for the C.N.R.

and the Hudson's Bay Co. He went over seas April Jim. ne nas mree sons and three daughters, Roger. George. Ronald, Lorraine, Beverley and Judith.

4 Piper Cunn i Piper Charles Gilchrist Gunn. 21, aon of Mrs. Louise Cunn, 264 Bel mont Is missing. Piper Gunn Joined tin Camerons cadet TTE. J.

K. CHRISTIE Wounded when ai 12. and went on nrtive nervlcs In September, 1939. Ho went overseas In December, 1940. Born In Winnipeg, he at tended Centennial and Victory rhnoln.

He has one aiMer, Muriel, at home. Cpl. Jimei A. Bain Col. James Alexander Fain, 24, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Alex Bain, 338 SGT. C. J. WELSH Wounded trained at and reached England on Christmas day that year.

Pte. Shakeshaft Pte. Ernest Albert Edward Shakeshaft died of wounds received at Dieppe. He enlisted in the Cameron Highlanders in February, 1940, and went overseas in December, 1941. He married Violet Johnston, Jan.

2.1, 1917, and she, with one daughter, Constance, aged four, survive him. They live at 241 Smith st. surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Shakeshaft, 657 Cathedral ave a brother, George, and a lister, Alice.

Cpl. Belihim Cpl. Gordon Charles Belsham, 21 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick O.

Belsham, 69 Luxton has been reported missing In action after the Dieppe raiJ. A brother, Gnr. Douglas J. O. Belsham, who was with the RCA.

at Shllo Camp, died In Deer Lodge hospital, Oct. 6. 1940. Cpl. Belsham was born In Winnipeg, and attended Luxton and St.

John's Technical schools. He was a member or tne Cameron raneis and Joined the active battalion on battalion In 1940, and remained in Canada until 1941. Cpl. Skromeda Cpl. Stephen Skromeda.

Bain was a mem ber of the Camerons' soccer team, England R.C.A.F., Cpl. George Bain, a sister, Millie, at home. Pte. W. J.

Greenawsy Pte. William James Greenaway, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Greenaway, Vancouver, is missing. Pte.

Greenaway was born in Rosser, and enlisted In May, 1940. He went overseas with the Camerons the following December. A sister, Mrs. J. Snider, lives at 474 Llpton st.

He has two other sisters, Mrs. M. Stewart and Myrtle, and a brother George, all living In Winnipeg. LCpl. Charles H.

Bater LCpl. Charles Herbert Bater, 21. son of Mrs. Alice Bater, 191 Ruby Is missing. He was orn In Transrona and attended Somerset school.

He was captain of the championship Cameron horseshoe pitching team overseas. Ha enlisted at the outbreak of war and went to England In December, 1940. An older brother, Pte. Edward, Is with the Army Service Corps. LCpl.

Baler also has three sisters, Mrs. Ivan Shilling ton, Virtnrla; Mrs. George Farley, loco, R.C, and Mrs. C. Rath, Winnipeg.

Pte. Henry Swanky Pte. Henry Swanky, 36, wife lives at 187 Isabel whose is missing. He was born at Morris, and was working at Head ingly as a Diesel engineer when he enlisted Sept. 6.

19,19. He went overseas with an advance party of Camerons, June fi, 1940. A brother, Cpl. John Swanky, Is also overseas. Pte.

Swanky Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Swanky, of Head Ingly. He has four brothers and a sister at Headlngly, Fred, William, Gus, Frank and Mrs.

S. Zimmerman. He has two small children, Phyllis, nine, and Ivan, seven. Pte. Albert Horace Hleka Pte.

Albert Horace Hicks. 23. son of Mr. and Mrs. G.

E. Hicks, ste. 14A Belmont is reported receiving treatment from a "gunshot wound'' received in the raid on Dieppe. An expert marksman, Pte. Hicks received many prizes for high scores In provincial rifle shooting competitions.

He was a sergeant In the CA C. until the war broke out when he joined the Cameron Highlanders. He trained at Shilo and in Quebec and arrived overseas with the lirst group of Canadians in Derember, 1939. Born In Winnipeg, he attended Aberdeen and St. John's Technical schools.

He was a member of the St. John's Cathedral choir before he joined the Highlanders. At the age of 12 he Joined the Highland Cadets. His father, W. G.

Hicks, died two years ago. Tte. Trueman Norton, 25, of Estevan, formerly of Cam duff, was killed in action at Dieppe with the South Saskatche wan Regiment. Ho was born at and lllsted with the Camerons in September, 19.19, and arrived in England December, 1940. His mother, three sisters and two brothers are believed to be somewhere in Poland.

Pte. Kalinin Former carrier hoy with The Tribune, Pte. George Kalinin, 19 listed as missing after the Dieppe raid, was a member of the Winnipeg Rifles (Reserve) before Joining with the Camerons in September, 1940. Born in Winnipeg, Tie. Kclinin attended Glenwood and Glenlawn schools.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Kellnin live at 11 Humboldt St. Vital, as do his three sisters and a brother: Mrs.

W. L. Ross, Vickl, Aida, and Ted. Lieut. Dawson Lieut.

A. F. Dawson, 38, wounded in action, joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment In 1940. He re reived his commission In the 1st Cavalry Machine Gun Corps, which was later disbanded and became the 11th Armored Car Regiment. Born in Scotland, Lieut.

Dawson came to live in Portage la Prairie when he was nine years old. He attended Victoria school there and took the balance of his education in Kelvin high school in Winnipeg. He enrolled in the engineering course at the University of Manitoba but left to join the staff of the T. Eaton Co. before finishing his course.

Working for Eaton's for 12 years, Lieut. Dawson left for the army. He is now signalling officer and has heen Jlsted as seriously wounded. He is the son of Mrs. C.

Dawson, of Portage la Prairie, and the late Mr. C. Dawson. A brother, John, lives in Toronto. His wife and two children, Enid and Ronald, live at 111 Vivian St.

Vital. Pte. W. Bolonchuk In 1929, Russian horn Pte. Walter Bolonchuk, came with his parents to this city.

A machinist by trade, the 29 year old Cameron was employed with a sheet metal company In Elmwood before enlist ing with 'the Camerons In May, 1940. He is listed as wounded. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bolonchuk, are living In Teulon, and there are two brothers, Pte.

Alex. Bolonchuk, and Pte. Mltchel Bolonchuk. now stationed in Vancouver with the Canadinn Active army. There are two sisters: Mrs Anne Miller.

Sherbrook and Mrs. Helen Molten, of Stonewall. Pte. Bolonchuk's wife and two children. Shirley and William, live at 176 Selkirk ave.

Pte. 3. Hughes Born in Winnipeg 21 years ago, Pte. Syd Hughes, whose father. James Hughes, lives at 151 MrPhail Elmwood.

attended Lord Selkirk and St. John's schools and was facturing Co. He was a member of the Cameron Cadets' band during his school days. He was a drummer. He joined the militia two years before the war and later went active and was sent overseas and Is reported wounded.

There are three sisters! Mrs. J. Slithers, Sheffield court, and Helen and Jean, living at home. Sgt. Alfred Kirk Lohse, 21.

horn Dafoe, came to Winni peg annul ann receiver nis education at Faraday and Isaac Newton schools. Enlisting with tho Camerons in July, 1940, he went overseas In February. 1941. He is listed as wounded. His father, Bruno Lohse, lives at 719 Boyd ave, as do hit brother, Carnduff and lived there most employed by the Wahl Manu his life.

Enlisting in the spring of 1940, he arrived overseas the fol lowing December. He is the son of C. G. Carter g20 South Drive, Fort Garry. McGhee Pte. George Watson McGhee.

23, son of Mrs. Isabelle McGhee, Hamlota, and the late James McGhee, was killed in action. He was born In Hamlota, Joined the Camtroni in the sprinj of 1940, yen nVirii mvM nnwiiiu PTE. A. E.

6. Brown Winnipeg born Pte. Alex. Stephen Brown 24. attended the I on i aumiii mill nnviii schools and was employed with the Imperial Oil Co.

here. His parents, Mr. and Mrs Frank Brown, live at 191 Centennial as does his sister, Wlnni fred. Formerly a Cameron cadet and a member of the non permanent militia, Pte. Brown enlisted with the active army in 1939 and is re ported wounded.

Pte. W. P. Sherridan Born In England 28 years ago, Pte. William Peter Sherriden came to his city In 1926 and re sided wilh Mr.

and Mrs. A. B. Fisher, 3.1 Regal St. Vital.

Pte. Sherridan's parents died before he left for Canada. He received his schooling In the old country. In September, 19.19, he enlisted with the Camerons and In 1940, went overseas with an advance party of this regiment. Pte.

Sher ridan Is a member of the soccer team overseas and Is on the wounded list. Pte. J. Stalker Reported as wounded after the Dieppe raid, Pte. James Stalker, 21 year old Winnipegger, was a former bugler with the Cameron cadets and, before the war, was a member of the militia.

He joined the active army with Pte. Syd Hughes and went overseas with him. His mother, Mrs. James Stalker, lives at 2U3 Poplar Norwood, with her six other children Robert. David.

Arthur, William, Christine and Jean. Piper W. W. Younp; Reported "safe and well," Saturday, Piper William W. Young, Camerons, has now been officially listed as wounded in the Dierpc action.

Piper Young is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Young.

523 Greenwood Place. A hrother, Robert Young, lives at 1042 Downing st Pte. John Dunbar Pte. John Dunhar, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs.

T. W. Dunbar, was wounded with the Camerons. Pte. Dunbar enlisted In November, 1939, after graduating from Daniel Mclntyre collegiate, and went overseas In December, 1940.

He also attended Wellington and Principal Sparling schools. A brother. Sgt. W. T.

Dunhar, is overseas with the Provost corps. His father was a Cameron In the 1 1 Great War. Pte. Dunbar has twoih.is been overseas nearly two brothers at home, Danny and Bob. years.

He was wounded in the LCpl. Flynn LCpl. Patrick Vincent Flynn, 29. whose wife lives at 246 Arlington was wounded. Enlisting with the Camerons in September, 19.19, he went overseas in December, 1910.

His parents are Mr. and Mrs. T. Flvnn, and he has two brothers, Jack and Emmet Cpl. R.

C. Hinde Cpl. Robert Gordon Hinde, .12. was wounded in the Dieppe raid. Enlisted In September.

19.19 with the Camerons. He went overseas in December, 1940. His wife lives at 270, Furby. LCpl. MeLure LCpl.

Onrth McLure, 22, son ol Mr. and Mrs. Roddy McLure, 189 Vnughnn was wounded. He was born in Prince Edward Island hut lived in Winnipeg most of his life. He attended Glenlawn collegiate, St.

Vital. An older brother, LAC Gordon, is with the R.C.A.F. In Brandon, and Hugh, a younger brother, is at home. LCpl. McLure enlisted with the Camerons In September, 1939.

and went overseas in December, 1940. Cpl. Nugmt L'Cpl. George Thomas Nugent. 24, whose aunt, Mrs.

M. McLean, lives at 549 Arlington was wounded. Born in Bath. he came to Canada when a small boy and attended Linwood high slhool. He enlisted Jan.

6, 1940, and went (overseas Aug. 21, 1940. He was member or the Camerons soccer team overseas. Pte. H.

Born In Winnipeg, he attended Isaac Brock and Daniel Mclntyre schools. He was a wireless oper ator with headquarters of the Own Cameron Highland ers, which he joined Sept. 10, 19.19. He arrived in England December. 1940.

A sister, Winifred May, is at home. Pte. Stanley Child Pte. Stanley Joseph Child, 22, son of Mrs. Amy Chamberlain, 72 Thelmo Mansioas, Burnell was wounded.

He enlisted in September, 19.19, and went overseas In December. 1940. Prior to enlisting he was a Cameron cadet from 1933 and played hockey with the school team at St. John's Technical high 'school. Pte.

Jesse Christie A cadet major in the Cameron Cadets before he enlisted with the Camerons in May, 1910, Pte. Jesse Edward Shristie, 22, is the son of Jack Christie, 48 Lydia st He was wounded. On first Joining he was a member of the unit pipe hand. Born in Winnipeg, he was educated at Hugh John Mac rionnld and Daniel Mclntyre school, was Interested in sports and was very active In boxing circles. He was employed by the C.N.R.

He has two sisters. Mrs. P. Galr, Winnipeg Beach, and Pearl, at home. His father fought with the 16th Battalion, Canadian Scottish.

Welsh Sgt Clarence J. Welsh, 26, only son of Mrs. Elizabeth Welsh, Ste. 3D, Modern block, was working for a steel plant in St. Boni Ice before he joined up in September, 19.19.

He has fn overseas nearly two years. He was wounded in the Dieppe action. Born in Winnipeg, he was edu ce.ted at Hugj John Macdonald and Dufferin schools, was a mem bet of the Winnipeg Small Bore Rifle association. A sister, Mrs. L.

Anderson, lives 529 Llpton st. Pte. W. J. Mowat Born In Scotland and educated in Winnipeg schools, Pte.

William Joseph Mowat, 26, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Mowat, 636 Walker ave. He was wounded, Employed by the Metropolitan theatre, he joined his unit In September, 19.19, has heen over seas a year and a half.

He took part in all sports. An employe of the Fort Rouge Dry Cleaners, Pte. William Kerr, 26, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.

K. Boulter, Ste. 2, Brandon court joined up in September. 19.19. He Dieppe raid.

Born at Portage la Prairie, he received his education at Gordon Bell and Greenway schools here and took an active part in all sports. A brother. Gordon Kerr, was a member of the Camerons for two years before discharged through illness. He Is now employed by the C.N.R. A sister, Alice, is at home.

He has four step sisters: Mrs. S. Roberts, Mrs. G. Blake, Edmonton st; Mrs.

P. Kehler, Elgin Mrs. William Radley, Brandon court. 1 Sgt. Major McAmmond A veteran of the last war, Com pany Sgt.

Major Kenneth Ivan Mc Ammond, wounded, joined up In September, 1939, has been overseas nearly two years. His wife lives at ste. 32 Brandon court. Born In Ontario and educated 'n Ontario and Manitoba schools, he was employed by the C.N.R. before enlisting.

His mother, Mrs. K. McAmmond, lives at Neepawa. Two brothers are with him In the unit overseas; CQMS. Harold and Sgt.

Instructor Orviile. Pte. Albert Chaze A member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles In peace time, Pte. Albert Edgar Chazetransf erred to the Camerons in 1910 and left almost immediately for overseas. He was wounded.

Born at La Saile, he was educated In St. Boniface college, end was active in hockey. He was formerly employed a hatchery company of Winnipeg. mother, Mrs Elizabeth Wick berg, lives at Se Kate st He has r. fry PTE.

WALTER BOLONCHUK Wounded two sisters. Alma and Anita, at home. Piper George Wood Mr. and Mrs. George Wood.

ALEX BROWN Wounded 3 New Dieppe Lists Issued From Ottawa Br Th Canadian Ptcm OTTAWA, Aug. 25 National defense headquarters today issued its eighth and ninth casualty lists since the Battle of Dieppe. With the ninth list the unofficial count of total casualties reported since Dieppe 'rose to 584, subject to possible error due to repetitions. Of the total, 88 have been reported dead, 372 wounded 1 and 125 missing.
