Area Scouts Will Attend 8th Jamboree Representing the U. S. Grant Council at the eighth world jamboree of-scouting, Aug. 18 to 28 at Ontario, Canada, will be two area explorer scouts, Lewis B. Arnold, Winslow, and Samuel Bess Freeport, Roy R.

Butler, U. S. Grant Council Scout executive, announced today. A total of 1,561 explorer scouts and adult representatives of the Boy Scouts of America will be present at the eighth jamboree, entitled the "Jamboree of New Horizons, held for the first time in the Western Hemisphere. Aboyt 10,000 scouts and leaders from 28 nations will camp together, representing most of the countries in the free world with scouting programs.

The U. S. contingen comprises explorer scouts between 14 and 17 years of age, with rec ords of teamwork, leadership camping experience and in good physical condition. Pre-Jamboree Tour The two area boys will tour the eastern part of the United States with scouts from American Region 7 prior to their arrival at the pre jamboree training site at Gary Ind. The group is scheduled to be in New York City Aug.

13 and wil visit the United Nations and take a boat ride around Manhattan Is land. From New York, they will to Montreal, Canada, for a carriag tour and a climb to the top of Mt Royal. The scouts will lunch at th Chateau Frontenac in Quebec an then take a scenic trip on the St Lawrence River. The American boys will live i each of the 10 sub-camps at th jamboree site with scouts of othe nations. Exchange Foods The scouta from the various coun tries will exchange their nationa dishes and demonstrate scoutin skills.

At small campfire meetings troops and patrols, scouts of othe lands will be guests. The specia displays and demonstrations are ex pected to depict scoutcraft skil as welt as cultural and nation; backgrounds. The American program will in Eleven Airmen Leave Hawaii For California HONOLULU Eleven U.S. airmen leave Hawaii in two planes late today, heading for California and reunions this weekend with loved ones they haven't seen for years. The airmen, freed in Hong Kong last week after 32 grim months as prisoners of the Chinese Communists, are due at Travis Air Force base, northeast of San Fran Cisco at 8 Friday.
