Former Honor Student Receives Life Term SAN DIEGO Eighteen year old Daniel Altstadt has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the hatchet slaying of his parents and sister. Altstadt was silent Tuesday as Superior Court Judge William Low ordered him to the state prison at Chino. judge turned down 11 motions for new trial from defense attorney Donald Meloche. Meloche said he would appeal within 60 days. A former honor student and Eagle scout.

Representatives of the two sides met Tuesday and planned another session for today. Logan School Bus Drivers ContinueStrike LOGAN School buses did not run for the second day in rural Logan County today, but approximately 7.000 students walked or were brought to classes by parents, school board officials said. The county has about 11,000 students. The same number of students made it to classes without bus service yesterday. Picketing school bus drivers were at schools and the Board of Education bus garage again today.

State police said the picketing was orderly. The 60 striking drivers are demanding reversal of two recent changes in their contract with the Board of Education. They want reinstated a grievance procedure and bus washers. Supt. of Schools Jack Garrett was to meet later today with spokesmen for the drivers.

One driver, Christine Kimbler, said the drivers "are only trying to keep what has been ours for seven years." She said the board's elimination of the washers, plus three drivers and several mechanics means the drivers will be required to spend as much as 12 hours per day on the job. The board said the washers were removed in an overall budget cutback because of financial deficits. Catalano To Manage Sprouse Campaign Hy THE ASSOCIATED PltfiSS James M. Sprouse has named John D.
