Hints from Heloise Country look The heavyweight wrap papers also are suited for other decorating projects such as the coordi- nated flower arrangement on the desk or a covering for the wastebasket. 'Past Sixty Group' shares food Dear Heloise: 1 am one of those called the "past sixty group," who move into retirement dwellings. I have only lived here less than a year. We each have our own apartment and more or less shift for ourselves. Today is my day to cook Irish stew! When suppertime comes, we all share homemade stew.

Tomorrow nighl it will be spaghetti, The wonderful- thing about this is that each of us in our twilight years some of that good ol' homemade cooking, along with the friendship. And companionship is the most important all since most of us are without kin' folks and loved ones. Anyone of us who has leftovers them along. I think this idea should be passed along so that those who have moved into dwellings like this one could also pick up the same idea. It makes the place a little more homey, since at our age most of us don't have homes anymore.

Your i Friend. I'm for that kiddo! Heloise Dear Heloise: I just came back from a pleasure I took my mother-in-law to the air. port! Dear Heloise: This suggestion makes feel a little stupid because I'm sure is not original, but for years I spooned out dog and cat food from the can until I discovered that a knife will allow it to slip out completely. Or you can just cut a little out at a time. It falls off the knife, and doesn't cling to the bowl or the spoon, and is so much better.

Barbara C. Miller. Sounds like a very "smart" idea! If you've been raking that last bit of food the spoon with your finger try, Barbara's method with the knife. Heloise Dear Heloise: I was mending some torn pants and was having trouble pulling the needle through the material. After trying several that didn't work, I took some heavyweight By Heloise II sandpaper and twisted the needle between the sandpaper.

And then I hit the jackpot. The needle sailed right through the material. Diane Dorsey Dear Heloise: This hint is for women who use loose face powder (box or jar). I discovered that if you cut about three thicknesses of nylon net and fit it on top of your powder, that you will never pick up more powder than you need on your powder puff. I find this very helpful when traveling, as I like to keep my powder puff inside the'box of powder where I can keep it handy.

And I used to have excess powder to shake off the puff, which becomes very messy. Lessie N. Dean Dear Heloise: Here's a very neat and quick way to put in a zipper. Sew seam up to where zipper will end, press back seam allowance, pinning at top. Put zipper on seam allow- ance.

Using tape that is transparent, tape along outer edge of zipper, just outside of where you will stitch on both edges of zipper and material. When taped in place, turn garment over and put three small pieces of tape down middle at top, midway and bottom. Sew one side of zipper from top to bottom across and up other side. Pull off tape and you will have a very neat zipper sewed in one-third the time. Hope this helps those that have trouble with material stretching and bunching.

Myrtle McKeever Dear Heloise: When you have most of your relatives out of state, as I do, exchanging address labels with those you write to often makes the chore of addressing envelopes a lot easier. J.E.T. it Dear Heloise: I crochet and when I want to make fringe, .1 get a book the right width and wrap the thread around it. Then I can slip the.scissors between the pages for easy cutting. Ruth Kimmejrly Letters to Heloise should be sent to her in care of King Feature Syndicate, 45th New York, 10017.
