Before they are aware, the foundations of character are laid, and subsequent teachings avail but little to remove or alter them. Wo all have two educations, one which we receive from others another, and the moat valuable, which we give ourselves. It is this last which fixes our grade in society and eventually our actual condition in this life and the color of our fate hereafter.

Waster Albert Maxwell, for some years a clerk in the store of Mr. J. C. Mead, has attracted our particular attention by his gentlemanly and Business deportment we pleased therefore to chronicle his advancement te a higher and more trusty position in the Dixon National Bank. Although but a young man, he haH laid llie foundation for a useful, honorable and successful life, and we shall be disappointed if he does not achieve it.

Master James Camp, assistant in the Pest Office, is another young wan who is making a creditable history, worthy of emulation. We desire to inform our young men by way of incentive, that THE Dixos Sex will ever find room to record their laudable achievements, and before long we hope to give a Hat of Dixon boys who have risen to prominence in Chicsgo and Bther large cities. But when the Supervisors fixed the salary nt $1800, aud the clerk hire at $2000, what Mr.
