McDonnell met yesterday with Mayor John V. Lindsay, who noted that each day. the strike continues poses a possibility of a health emergency. NEW YORK (AP) Twenty-three anti-Vietnam War demonstrators interrupted a solemn high mass in St. Patrick's Cath edral yesterday and were quick- ly removed by plainclothesmen ivho had been tipped off that a demonstration would take place. A spokesman for the group said they objected to remarks by Francis Cardinal Spellman, Roman Catholic archbishop of New York, that anything but victory for the United States in Vietnam was unthinkable. The 23 had been occuping seats near the high altar. As the congregation of nearly 3,000 persons stood wr onertory prayers the demonstrators moved slowly and quietly to the center aisle and unfurled paper posters.

The posters depicted a crying Vietnamese infant holding up a food bowl and bore the words "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and "Vietnam." The demonstrators, including eight women, moved quietly and peacefully as they were escort- ed out by the policemen. uaromai upeuman was not in the church. He labeled the incident "a serious violation of our constitutional right to assemble for peaceful worship of almighty God."
