MISS KATE PEARS ALL Word was received here last night of the death of Miss Kate Pearsall of Morganton, N. cousin of Dr. i William A. Murphy, and Miss May i Murphy of Bethel Green. Miss Pearsall died last night at 9:15 in Morganton.

She had been a frequent visitor here for the past 40 years. Funeral services will be conducted Friday in Monganton. COACHES IN ISRAEL AF Newsfeatnres NEW YOR Irving (Moon Mondchein, Naconal AAU decathlon champ in 1944, '46, and '47, has gone to Israel to teach track and field coaches. Mondaschein a'-so win work with the Israeli track team in preparation for its participation in the 1953 Olympic Games at Helsinki. Mondscheln was given a one year 1 leave of absence of Lincoln U.

at Oxford, where he Is track, football and basketball coach. Before leaving amateur athletics to become a coach, Moon was a football and track star at NYU. This will be Mondschein's second trip to Israel. In 1950 he- coached the US athletes who competed in the Maccablan Games. COLOR TV FOR GRID NEW YORK Football enthusiasts with TV sets plus the necessary equipment to view color television will see nine top notch college games this fall in color.

The NCAA has given its approval. CBS will tage care of the technical color video department. The first game on the color TV grid schedule will he the Califor-nia-Penn game at Philadelphia on Sept. 9. Other games on the color card Include: Princeton at Navy, Dartmouth at Army, North Carolina at Maryland, Columbia at Army, Notre Dame at Navy, Maryland at Navy, Army at Penn, and Harvard at Yale.

Members of the Moose und Eagles Lodges served as honorary pallbearers and waitresses of the three Higgins Restaurants served as flower bearers. Burial was in Thornrose Cemetery. E. A. BURKES Funeral services for Eugene A.

Burkes, Staunton native and prominent musician in Newark, N. were conducted Saturday in Bethany Baptist Church in Newark. Mr. Burkes is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Frances Burkes; two sisters, the Misses Ela and Rosa Burkes, both of Staunton, and several nieces and nephews.

He was born in Staunton Nov. 11. 1880, a son of the late William Henry and Martha Burkes. After attending public schools here he continued his education in Wash ington, then at the Boston Conservatory of Music, and finally he did graduate work at the Julllard School of Music. Mr.

Burkes was both teacher and composer, addition to his mas tery of the field of music, he also was an artist and' composer. A. graduate of the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts, one of his paintings was hung at the Newark Masonic Temple during observation of Negro history week. EARL L. WRIGHT WAYNESBORO, Aug.

7 Fun eral services for Earl Lin wood Wright, 22, who was killed in an auto accident Sunday on the Blue Ridge Parkway, will be conducted Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Scott C. Hufton.

Burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton. The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until 1:30 Thursday afternoon when it will be taken to the church. Born Feb. 8, 1929, Mr. Wright was a son of Burl Edmunds and Blanche May Wright of Route Three.

He was born in Goshen. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wright is survived by sister, Mrs. Naomi Gregory, CralgsvOle; and five brothers, Frank E. and Thomas Wilbert, Waynesboro; Russell Warner, in the United States Navy at sea; Robert Withers, Randolph, and Carinton Woodman, all of Route Three.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Campbell. Junior Claytor, James Campbell, Jim Campbell, Herman Clark, and Silas Campbell; honoraries, H. B. Whitlock, James Johnson, Willard Rankin, Calvin Campbell. Albert Pack, Weldon Smith, William Childress, and Warren Rankin.
