Reed Bretz of Huntingburg attended a leadership workshop conducted by the Southwest Regional Committee on Aging at the Community Center in Evansville on April 5. Mrs. Bretz is chairman of District III, which consists of Daviess. Dubois, Martin and Pike counties. The keynote speaker of the shop was Leonard Breen.

Ph.D., associate professor of sociology at Purdue University. Dr. Breen pointed out the needs of aging and the aged can best be solved within the framework of good community life. Adequate health and medical care services, recreational opportunities, employment opportunities, and economic security were mentioned as being even more important to the aged than to other segments of the population. Delegates were encouraged to organize representative committees on the county level to study community needs and take action in providing Jasper Watchmakers Elected To Offices TWo Jasper men were elected to the highest offices in the Southern Indiana Watchmakers Guild at the April dinner meeting held at the needed services for the aged.

The annual conference of the Southwest Regional Committee on Aging will be held at Evansville on June 6, 1962. in conjunction with the National Convention of Golden Age Clubs and Senior Citizens Centers. Community Center in Evansville. Eugene Carter, a watchmaker for F. C.

Kuebler Son for the past eight years, was elected president to succeed Everett Turley of Evansville. Arthur Krapf, a watchmaker for Theo. J. Welp since 1946, was elected vice-president. Other officers are Lester Scraper, Princeton, recording secretary; Lawrence Paul, Evansville, corresponding secretary; and John Freeman, Evansville, treasurer.

Mr. Krapf will also serve on the board of directors of the Southern Indiana Watchmakers Guild, which includes members of the craft from seven counties (Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Perry, Pike, Spencer and Vanderburgh) and will be in charge of the educational program at the guild level. He will also be in charge of the workshops and convention delegates. As part of the Tuesday night program, the watchmakers saw the Lindy Air Co. film on the star sapphire and ruby, and the techniques of manufacturing, cutting and polishing.
