Oreat excitement was created la this place this morning at ten o'clock by the arrival of two couriers from Red Lick, a small village near tbe boundary line between Madlaou ana Jackson Conntles, fourteen miles distant from Kichmond. TIFFIN'S TROUBLE. The Bank Saved by the Prompt Actios eflti Directory. Special IHspch to the Ervruirtr. Tiffik. April 24.

The absconding of O. Zcller, Cashier of tbe National Exchange Xiank, with 15,000 Is still tbe theme of conversation on the streets and in business' circles. The theory, already telegraphed, of his defaulting the School Board Fond, of which he was Treasurer, of 111,000 seems to be the only peg on which to hang bis actions. The Board assembled Friday evening to elect a Treasurer, nd after sixty-four ballats could not elect one. there being a tie each time In such case tbe law requires the Treasuer of the County to act.

This would necessitate placing the balance of the School Fund in the County Treasurers hands. Not having tbe money, his line of reason. ing would naturally be: "1 am a defaulter. If dis covered, my position in the bauk and in society will be forfeited, and I will become beggar and an outcast. It has got to come out.

His family, which consists of an invalid wife, and son aud daughter, are nearly frantic with grief, and stoutly aasert that he will return and explain away this horrid story. ZEIXEJtS BUPPOflgD TO Eg IV CANADA. It is believed here that Zollers. the Tiffin abscond ing bank Cashier, was a passenger on a Canada Southern train last Sunday morning going nortn. leaving here at ten o'clock.

This woold land him in Canada in time to dint) with the Toledo Colony. From Another Correspondent! Trpnir. April 24. Since the memorable day In October. 1875, wben Jno.

T. Buss, Cashier of the First National Bank of this city, shot himself and broke up the bank of which he. was Cashier and nearly ruined hundreds of small depositors, there has been no such excitement as has existed here since it became known that O. Zeller, 'Cashier of the National Exchange Bonk, had- skipped with a satchel chuck full of greenbacks under the very hoses of some of the officers of the bank, who were at- the depot when tho tiain for Toledo, uoou which Zeller took passogo, arrived. Zelier was questioned as to his destination by the officers, and evasively made the remark that ha was going to Wauseou, Fulton County, on business.

Nothing strange was thought of this, as Zel ler was in the habit of going away, as it was known that he was largely interested in real estato at Auburn, Indiana, Defiance, Ohio, and other points. Every body supposed Zeller was making money out of this real estate, when In fact he was sinking money on account of tbe depieciatiou in its value. It is generally believed that he went to Toledo. and from that point took tbe Canada Southern Railroad for Canada, but whether he is now mere watching over the border like our -own John O. Breslin, or whether be ha gone further.

Is a mere matter of conjecture. The lame reward for him self and the money wblch he ftole will, no doubt, stimulate a great many to use their very best exertions to capture ibis high-toned thief. seller about loriy-nve. years oi ase. wore a verv long beard when be left; is of a very quick, active and nervous temperament.

He leaves un invalid wife, a daughter about eighteen years of see. aud a son about twenty-one years of age. A few days ago rro gave his aaugoter, who expects soon to be married, a beautiiui diamond ring, with the remark tbat he would anticipate her marriage by giving the present, as he expected to be away about the time the ceremony would take place. This looks like a premeditated Job on his cart. aud there seems little doubt now but that Zeller realized the fact that Tiffin would soon be too warm for him on account of the discrepancy In tbe School Fund of nearly be would have to replace in some way or another.

At the usual hour tins morning tne National ex change Bank opened its doors to the hungry aud excitea uepositora, a uuuiiwr ui nom rusneu to tbe counter and demanded their money. It "was promptly, paid over to them. dollar for dollar. This action of the bank had its effect, and very soon the run closed. and some who had drawn their money, put it-back again.

1 be officers ray that more money has been deposited than drawn to-day. An assessment has been made upon tne siocKnoiaers, an oi wnom have responded promptly to make good the robbery. To-night every thing is apparently quiet. and confidence ia the bank unbounded. Zeller was a man respectea oy ait wno knew mm as an honorable, honest business person.

He had no known vices, which are generally at the bottom of these little peculiarities of huniati nature. In a word, there are a good many people here who are real sorry that Zeller found it necessary to loave without bidding them good-bye. LEIISGTtJX, KEATICKT.
