Perhaps due partly to the athletic background of the executive vice president, United has sponsored teams in Softball and other sports. The company has a good labor record. This is important from the production viewpoint and in another vein when Nau reports that at times as Enthusiasm for the new tractors and their possibilities is a tangible thing at the busy United plant. Now into the past. United Boiler Heating and Foundry Co. was formed in June rf 1909 through a merger of the North Star Foundry and the Hammond Boiler Works.

Over the years the sales have Riiown to that J3 million gross previously mentioned. The average nilmber of persons on the production payroll is 250.
